Euphonium,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.793193 Composed by Christopher Kalstad. Concert,Contemporary,Standards. Score and part. 8 pages. Christopher Kalstad #5210053. Published by Christopher Kalstad (A0.793193). A Summer Night for euphonium and piano is based on the composer's vocal setting of Elizabeth Drew Stoddard's sensuous poem.  It begins with a languorous melody, evocative of a warm summer evening. The middle section suggests the light fluttering of flying insects in the evening. For the final section, the sensuous melody intensifies, becoming the speaker's plea for the Night to present a lover. The plea then softens to a humble entreaty and the song ends as gently as it began.  .

Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.1034421). The Vier Lieder, beautifully edited for Euphonium and Piano by Ralph Sauer are taken from Mahler's fourth set of these poems published in 1899. The four songs are: I. Wer hat dies Liedlein erdacht? (Who has created this song?) II. Lob des hohen Verstandes (In praise of lofty intellect) III. Verlor’ne Müh’ (Labor lost) IV. Lied des Verfolgten im Turm (Song of the persecuted in the tower) Mr. Sauer also includes German lyrics with English translations. Altogether the songs are about 12 minutes in length. Euphonium,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1310506 Composed by J S Bach-Gounod. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Instructional,Religious,Sacred,Wedding. Score and part. 7 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #899564. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1310506). This ever-popular piece is often performed at weddings, funerals and many other solemn ceremonial events. It has always been a favorite among instrumental players and often used in recitals or concert encores. This arrangement by Colin Kirkpatrick is ideal for the intermediate baritone or euphonium player. Solo parts are provided (a) in bass clef in which the range is from the lowest G on the staff to the E just above it and (b) in treble clef transposed for B flat instrument in which the range is from the A just below the treble staff to the F sharp on the top line. In 1853, the well-known French composer Charles Gounod added his own melody over a rippling keyboard accompaniment which was a slightly adapted version of the Prelude No. 1 in C major, BWV846, from Book I of J. S. Bach's The Well-Tempered Clavier, published in 1722. The title of the “combined†piece was Méditation sur le Premier Prélude de Piano de S. Bach. Gounod’s original arrangement transposed Bach’s keyboard part from C major into F major and it was scored for violin (or cello), organ and piano. In 1859, the French music publishing company Jacques-Léopold Heugel brought out a vocal version based on the familiar Latin text. Ave Maria (Hail Mary) is a traditional Catholic prayer addressed to the Virgin Mary. The version of Bach's prelude which Gounod used included the so-called Schwencke measure (m. 27 in this arrangement), a measure (bar) allegedly added by the German composer and pianist Christian Friedrich Gottlieb Schwencke (1767-1822) in an attempt to correct what was considered a harmonic weakness in the original. Whether there actually was a “harmonic weakness†(or possibly an error in the manuscript) remains a matter of conjecture but the fact remains that the most familiar-sounding version of this piece, recorded countless times by both singers and instrumentalists includes this Schwencke measure. It is therefore included in this arrangement. Some published arrangements show minor inconsistencies in the rhythm of the melody. This arrangement uses the familiar rhythm of the Ave Maria version as it appeared in the 1859 edition.

Euphonium,Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1283159 Composed by Frederic Chopin. Arranged by Diego Marani. Classical,Contemporary,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 12 pages. Diego Marani #874455. Published by Diego Marani (A0.1283159). One of the better known nocturnes, this piece has a rhythmic freedom that came to characterize Frédéric Chopin's later work. The piece is 85 measures long and in 6/4 meter is written in ternary form; after the primary theme, the secondary theme starts in measure 19, followed by a modified version of the primary theme in measure 70. The opening section moves into a contrasting middle section in the same key signature, which flows back to the opening material in a transitional passage. The reprise of the first section grows out of this, followed by a Picardy third ending. This arrangement for C or Bb Euphonium (or also trombone) with piano accompaniment reflects faithfully the original and is suitable for any purpose and occasion.

Euphonium,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792508 Composed by Reinhold Moritzovich Gliere. Arranged by Ralph Sauer. 20th Century,Multicultural,Romantic Period,World. Score and part. 36 pages. Gordon Cherry #4988439. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792508). Gliere's Two Pieces, Op. 9 is an early work, originally written for double bass with the two movements having been beautifully arranged for Euphonium and Piano by Ralph Sauer. The Intermezzo is lyrical, sensual and Eastern sounding. The Tarantella is a sprightly folk dance of southern Italy.  The curious name comes from the wolf spider or Tarantula whose bite is highly poisonous and in earlier times was believed to cause the victims to engage in a frenzied dance.  The two movements are about 9.5 minutes in length and are appropriate for advanced performers.
