Elegy for Solo Violin was designed and composed for middle to high level violin technique. There are almost no tunes for pure violin solo without accompaniment for these levels. Sonata by Esaye, or Tzigane by Ravel, are very difficult. So I thought many violinists need solos mid-high level.

I am a violinist and also a composer. Today there are almost not exists composers who can play violin with high level, differ from 19C. Unfortunately the composer can not write such tune if he (she) can not play violin.

This tune includes Dies Irae, same to Esaye, appears many times like cyclic form. The beginning is like Tzigane.

These are tribute to the great composers. And the theme of 2/4 that appears at beginning and ending, are funeral march, like the feeling of Esaye's one. Please play with Tempo Rubato according to your feeling.    Henri Duperey

Transposed and edited for violin from the viola/piano original. Luise A. Le Beau was a prolific yet overlooked 19th-century female composer. This third movement of her Three Pieces is a spirited polonaise with technical challenges for advancing violinists. These include crisp dotted-rhythm patterns and grace notes, high shifts, rapid cross-string arpeggios, and a short cadenza. Some fingerings have been added to this edition in the process of transposing to the violin. The piano part is even more virtuosic, and takes the lead over the violinist's chordal arpeggios. A good stand-alone recital or encore piece, or can be performed in combination with the first and second movements, Nachtstück (Night Piece) and Träumerei (Dreaming) as a showcase for this under-represented composer.

Brahms' Hungarian Dance No. 1 has been arranged and performed by many musicians and orchestras since its premiere in 1869. One of the most notable arrangements was made by Joseph Joachim, a renowned Hungarian violinist, and friend of Brahms.

Joseph Joachim was a close friend of Brahms and one of the most renowned violinists of his time. He was born in Hungary and had a deep appreciation for Hungarian music. Joachim was so taken with Brahms' Hungarian Dances that he arranged them for violin and piano.

The Doors in the Sky (2007) for violin commissioned by and is dedicated to violinist Piotr
Szewczyk. It was written as a part of his ViolinFutura commissioning project. The mission
of the project seeks to commission pieces connected to the deep historical traditions of
solo violin literature. The work takes its inspiration thus from these historical works and also
from a brief poem by American poet Elizabeth Kirschner.
The work begins with slow, melodic music in firm tonality. A fast, dancing section emerges
and becomes gradually wilder – abandoning its tonal grounding through chromatic
alternation. After this fast music stops, the initial slow music returns to conclude the piece,
with darker interjections now inserted into the tonal texture before ending in quiet repose.
