This arrangement of Ye Banks and Braes O’ Bonnie Doon by Percy Grainger is based on his own arrangement for wind band, first published in 1936. His original setting of the work for a chorus of women’s unison voices, accompanied by men’s voices, whistlers, and harmonium or organ at will was written in 1903. It is a simple melody based on a poem by Scottish poet Robert Burns, The Banks of Doon, written in 1793.
