In the easier string key of D Major (transposed from the original D-flar Major), not only the familiar Goin' Home theme, but the entire second movement with all the melodies and harmonies of the full orchestra is condensed into an arrangement playable by the string quartet. Except for the key transposition, most of the string parts contain the complete contents of Dvorak's original with the necessary wind parts written into the strings as needed. A challenging work for string quartet.

Rustic Dance was composed by C.R. (Cyrus Ryerson) Howell (1857-?), a Canadian minister, artist and musician and was first published by the De Luxe Music Company of New York in 1900. It has been described as a quirky country-dance style piece.  It was used in a scene in the 1962 film “The Music Man�.
