This is a modern folk song based on the true story of John Hewett and Sarah Drew, who died in Stanton Harcourt, Oxfordshire, a week before they were due to be married, on 31st July 1718.
It was written as a tribute to John and Sarah, on 31st July 2018: the 300th anniversary of their death.
For the lyrics I have taken liberties with the story (I kept them alive!) and I have borrowed from the epitaph written by the poet Alexander Pope, who was staying in the village at the time and was very moved by the incident.

There is NO MINIMUM ORDER quantity on this piece as I arrange all of my songs to be suitable for teaching by ear. I have taught this myself to my community choir and they've really enjoyed singing it - I hope you do too!
