It was September 5, 2014 at my First Friday Piano Concert at the Atrium in San Jose, CA that I premiered THE GRANDPARENT'S DAY SONG.

Many of the Atrium residents, as well as many of us, are unaware that the second Sunday in September is NATIONAL GRANDPARENTS DAY.

Since there are only a handful of songs dedicated to grandparents, I decided to write and dedicate this special piece of music to grandparents all over the world.

My inspiration for the music and words came to me from my many years of performing for the wonderful residents at the Atrium (Brookdale San Jose).

This is a popular song for grandkids, parents and singers who want to honor their grandparents, giving them special acknowledgement with gratitude and love.

Jingle Bells, known as One Horse Open Sleigh, is one of the most common and well-known Christmases in the world. It was written and composed by James Lord Pierpont (1822–1893) and published as One Horse Open Sleigh on September 16, 1857, a song for Thanksgiving and not Christmas. The song portrays how to play me lyrical while walking through the snow in a horse-drawn sleigh. Jingle Bells was the first song played in Space. On December 16, 1965, the crew of the Gemini 6A decided to get into the Christmas spirit and play this classic Christmas music during their trip to Space.

The rivers have endured over time, pulsing with the very life blood of the people. Jules Émile Frédéric Massenet (May 12, 1842 – August 13, 1912) was a French composer best known for his operas. His compositions were very popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and he ranks as one of the greatest melodists of his era. Thaïs is a three-act opera with a French libretto by Louis Gallet based on the novel Thaïs by Anatole France. Its famous Méditation, the entr'acte for violin and orchestra played between the scenes of Act II, is an oft-performed concert music piece; it has been arranged for many different instruments. In the present arrangement written in 2012, the original key of D major has been changed to Db to make it more suitable for the saxophone range. The soprano saxophone is the featured voice.
