This arrangement of Poker Face came to me suddenly while I was sitting at my piano. I was bored and looking through a collection of pop songs, when I accidentally created the opening lick of this piece. It got me thinking, What would happen if this piece had a little bit of a jazz flair? So I sat there, whirled some ideas around in my head, and this arrangement was the outcome. This arrangement is a piano/vocal solo with some optional back up vocals written as well. I hope you guys enjoy it, and leave a comment!

Scott Joplin - Solace - A Mexican Serenade (for String Quartet)
With Solace, Joplin had reached a new maturity where he could express a range of complex emotions lifting Ragtime far beyond its popular appeal as a light-hearted form of music. Certainly Solace is unusually complex among piano rags, and its subtitle A Mexican Serenade perhaps reflects the fact that its left hand rhythm suggests a slow latin Tango.
