Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1512874 Composed by Phil Dickson. 21st Century,Contemporary. Score. 40 pages. Pitch Perfect Music Services #1087816. Published by Pitch Perfect Music Services (A0.1512874). Phil Dickson is a Scot, living in Yorkshire, who has been composing light classical style piano pieces for many years. His musical idols include John Field, Chopin, Mozart, Gershwin, The Beatles and Hoagy Carmichael. This is Phil’s first album, called ‘Archipelago’. It was recorded, produced and mixed at John Parr’s (famed for ‘St Elmo’s Fire’ and numerous pop songs and movie soundtracks in the ‘80s and ‘90s) intimate studio ‘Somewhere in Yorkshire’. Each of the 9 tracks has its own distinctive character but there is a clear, unique signature across all of the compositions. In CD form, the album is ideal to have playing in the room, or the car, but equally merits being listened to with intent as each piece has it’s own narrative. The title track ‘Archipelago’ was inspired by the glorious islands off the coast of Argyle – which is definitely one of the most beautiful areas in the world. Each track has its own backstory, and Phil would be very happy to relate them to any musician or listener who would like to find out more. Phil can be reached directly on his YouTube Channel - Phil's Piano Pieces - YouTube - by posting a message in the comments sections. At the time of the release of this album, the unprovoked war in Ukraine is raging and there are so many innocent people and children suffering due to the horrific atrocities inflicted upon them from the Kremlin in Russia – so for each sale made from this CD and/or music book, £3 will be donated to the Disaster Emergency Committee, so each unit sold will deliver £3 to help and support the Ukrainian families in need during this appalling crisis. This is from both the composer (Phil) and Pitch Perfect Music Services/DOTS.(Phil happens to be 3rd generation Ukrainian from his father’s side of the family. Originally the family name was ‘Dishkin’.) All of Phil’s compositions are very accessible, easy and very enjoyable to listen to, and they have been written to be played by pianists at the intermediary level.More information is available here: https://www.dicksontraining.com/archipelago-album.php.

Instrumental Duet Cello,Instrumental Duet,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.802607 Composed by Frederic Chopin. Arranged by Peet du Toit. Contemporary. Score and parts. 4 pages. Peet du Toit #5982425. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.802607). The Nocturne No. 20 in C- sharp minor, Op. posth., Lento con gran expressione, P 1, No. 1, No. 16, KKIVa/16, is a solo piano piece composed by Frédéric Chopin in 1830 and published in 1870.Chopin dedicated this work to his older sister Ludwika Chopin, with the statement: To my sister Ludwika as an exercise before beginning the study of my second Concerto. First published 21 years after the composer's death, the piece is usually referred to as Lento con gran espressione, from its tempo marking. It is sometimes also called Reminiscence. The piece was played by Holocaust survivor Natalia Karp for the Nazi concentration camp commandant Amon Goeth, with Goeth being so impressed with the rendition that he spared Karp's life. This was also the piece played by Holocaust survivor and famed Polish pianist WÅ‚adysÅ‚aw Szpilman (the central figure of the 2002 Roman Polanski film The Pianist) during the last live broadcast of Polish radio on September 23, 1939 when Warsaw was besieged by the German army. Years later Szpilman also played this piece for German army officer Wilm Hosenfeld upon their first meeting, though in the corresponding film scene Szpilman plays an abridged version of Chopin's Ballade No. 1 in G minor, Op. 23. Hosenfeld later helped Szpilman hide and provided food to him in the last months of the war. It's been many years I've been inspired by this music after seeing violinist Midori (at age 12) having performed this (watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bw0UH1UXJVg ). So, here is my attempt for a string duo. Enjoy!

Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1031959 Composed by Daniel Slaymaker. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 4 pages. Daniel Slaymaker #3878713. Published by Daniel Slaymaker (A0.1031959). Ballade in D Minor for Quarter-Tone Piano, The Staggering Drunkard. Practical performance would include two pianos - one of which is tuned a quarter-tone flat or sharp - but it is possible to play on a specially constructed quarter-tone keyboard for one performer. This piece was heavily inspired by Wyschnegradsky's Quarter-Tone Preludes, as well as Chopin's First Ballade in G Minor, and was composed when I was in college (the final version was completed after I left college). It's essentially a solo instrument tone poem that describes someone staggering home after a long night of drinking out, along the way dodging a train and instigating some cops that pursue him, then stumbling upon a carnival that rather promptly boots him out because of his provocative behavior. He eventually finds his way home, now able to rest after a bizarre night of debauchery.
