The 12 pieces in Bulgarian Rhythm by the great Bulgarian composer Parashkev Haddjiev were written originally for piano. The composer had a special gift for composlng brief character pieces that convey a specific mood or illustlate a glven musical problem. Such are the pieces in this collection where the main issue is rfurthmic. Bulgarian Rhyhm, as Bartok calls it, is uneven. It alternates duple and triple beats within each measure. The pieces are fresh and cute in a typical folk-like style. Ravnopolska-Dean’s arrangement uses specific harp techniques and effects.   Mastering the rhythrnic patterns found in this colleetion enhances inner rhyhmic stability and provides a valuabie bridge to solving more complex rhytmic problems. The String Quartet #1 by Anna-Maria Ravnopolska-Dean consists of three contrasting movements. They could be performed as separate pieces as well. The first movement, “Istvan” is a fugue. It is fast and light.  It makes use of different string techniques. The 2nd movement, “Paradise” is a free, “leggiero” piece.  It creates a beautiful, calm atmosphere and different sonorities.  It is a strong contract to the 1st energetic movement, “Istvan”.  The 3rd movement, “Dream” start with a mysterious, dreamy theme in the cello. It combines exuberance of moods, rhythms and techniques to create a unique atmosphere. It has a bright and optimistic ending.

Lullaby and Waltz of the Doll are two beautiful little pieces for solo piano in the parallel keys of g minor and G Major.  The narrative character of the first one evokes the memories of the fairy tales from the childhood.  It calmly narrates a story without words.  The Waltz suddenly changes the atmosphere.  It plunges into a vivid waltz, playful and joyful.  It creates a strong contrast with the Lullaby.  The pieces could be performed separately, but the effect is complete when playing them in succession as a cycle. This fantasy is a romantic work based on the opera La Traviata, one of Verdi's masterpieces.
It uses the great capabilities of the harp to show the emotions provoked in the main moments of the opera.
The main arias are modified through the harp spectrum.  The whole composition follows my interpretation of the opera,
my way of thinking and logic. The original themes are modified and combined with my own themes, transitions , and Cadenzas.
I combine the two of the most important tunes in the opera: Libiamo and Addio del'passato. Tha most significant thing for me is that they show two very important and contrasting moments in Violeta's life: wnen she falls in love and is happy, and when she senses the near approach of death. I recorded a CD with different opera fantasies, and this inspired me to compose my fantasy on La Traviata.  Enjoy!
