Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.742752 By Juan María Solare. By Juan María Solare. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Instructional. Score. 15 pages. Juan Maria Solare #350886. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.742752). Colores de un otoño incipiente -- Colors of an incipient autumn seven somewhat abstract pieces for piano Recording of Colores de un otoño incipiente - piano in several platforms Colores de un otoño incipiente -- on Spotify In this work, an idea that has haunted me for a long time crystallizes: that the titles of the individual pieces are read like lines of a poem. Colors of an incipient autumn The day declines. Coppery with old leaves, the earth awaits. Innocence Parched by the long vigils. Frugal in the face of excess, He resigned himself to the unfinished And he left a hole of light in this nothingness. Such a poem alludes without great subtlety to decadence and aging. The title Apergaminada por las largas vigilias is taken from a poem by Pedro Lastra. Y dejó un hueco de luz en esta nada comes from a micropoem attributed to Alejandro Güerri, written in memory of Javier Adúriz. This seventh piece, transparent and delicate, pictures a being definitively transformed into light. The idea of desmesura (excess) arises from the prologue by Javier Adúriz to his book Solos de conciencia (1985): Faced with the excess of death, consciousness perceives the weakness of its willful affirmation, the one for which it feels itself unique and safe from all decrepitude. Adúriz was one of the fundamental figures in my artistic training. And apparently he still is. Musically, this cycle of works abounds in harmony of chords by fourths in a minimalist neoclassical aesthetic. The way of working texturally with the piano as an instrument - my instrument - highlights the pedal, the resonances, the third dimension of sound. These seven somewhat abstract pieces were composed at the end of 2019 in and around Bremen, in several cases with my new-born daughter Laura in my arms, trying to put her at to sleep and staying asleep. This explains the cautious nature of the music and its prudent dynamics that never reach a mezzoforte. There were several unsuccessful attempts to release this recording (initially planned for September 2020, at the beginning of autumn in the northern hemisphere). Finally, the album will be released (on Spotify and other streaming platforms) on 22 April 2022, coinciding with what would be my father's 103rd birthday. It is also autumn but in the southern hemisphere. Recorded on a Steinway B grand piano (serial number: 568208) at the Musikschule Bremen (Germany) with two Neumann KM-184 microphones. Recording and mastering technician: Alexander Derben. For the artwork, the impressive photographer and visual storyteller Leon Drago, from London, has kindly authorised the use of his photograph Pathway, The Garden House and Pergola, Hampstead Heath extension, London. Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596578 Composed by Juan María Solare. 20th Century,Contemporary,Standards. Score. 13 pages. Juan Maria Solare #4892571. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596578). Meraki: five piano pieces Simple but not superficial music. Five Neo-classical, post-Romantic piano pieces with unconventional titles.  Listen to them here: https://juanmariasolare.bandcamp.com/album/meraki  Meraki, in recording for felted piano, will be released in 2020 (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.) through the label Double J Music. (felted piano sounds are produced by putting a piece of felt or cloth between the strings and the hammers.)   Meraki (Greek) is when you put your soul into something you are doing. Meraki is a word that modern Greeks often use to describe what happens when you leave a piece of yourself (your soul, creativity, or love) in your work. When you love doing something, anything, so much that you put something of yourself into it.  Meraki means to do something with passion, with absolute devotion, with undivided attention. Meraki is derived from the Turkish Merak (Labor of love, to do something with pleasure). Usually applied to tasks, usually, creative or artistic tasks, but can be applied to any task at all. Lumokinesis (4:00). Lumokinesis is the ability to manipulate and control the element light at will. Kenopsia (4:00). Kenopsia is the eerie atmosphere of a place usually full of peple, but now abandoned and calm. Ataraxia (4:30). Tranquility, imperturbability, absence of wishes or fears. Petricor (3:30). Petrichor is the earthy scent produced when rain falls on dry soil. Exulansis (3:45). The tendency to stop talking of one's experiences because people cannot reate to them.

Piano Solo - Digital Download SKU: A0.596506 Composed by Juan María Solare. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,Standards,World. Score. 10 pages. Juan Maria Solare #3363803. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596506). Juan María Solare:  Acuarelas junto al río inmóvil (Watercolours alongside the still river)  five nocturnes for piano solo The still river is the River Plate; the novelist Eduardo Mallea (1902-1982) refers to Buenos Aires as the city next to the still river, an allusion to its lack of haste. This cycle of piano pieces is a collection of five short nocturnes. The first four Acuarelas were composed in Buenos Aires between 9th and 12th April 2007, the fifth piece was conceived on 4th May and written down on 6th May 2007. All five pieces have practically the same formal structure. Concerning the musical language or style, I would classify this work under contemporary classical with interferences from modern jazz and new tango (imagine Astor Piazzolla listening to a recording of Thelonious Monk playing preludes of Alexander Scriabin). Single titles and approximate durations I - Bruma matinal  (Morning Mist) [1'10] II - Flecha flotante  (Floating Arrow) [1'00] III - Vaivén de los juncos  (Sawying Reeds) [1'15] IV - Orilla urbana  (Urban Shore) [2'00] V - Incandescencia estática  (Static Incandescence) [0'45] ISWC (International Standard Musical Work Code): T-802.466.008-1 The Acuarelas were recorded by Juan María Solare in London on Friday 23rd May 2014. Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596530 Composed by Juan María Solare. 20th Century,Latin,Standards,Wedding. Score. 7 pages. Juan Maria Solare #3682589. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596530). Gazing is a post-romantic piano prelude composed in Bremen, Germany, between 29 November and 5 December 2016. Its duration is about 4'30. The world premiere (by the composer) was at the church St. Martin within Ludgate, London, on 20 Febuary 2017. To gaze means to look steadily and intently, as with great curiosity, interest, pleasure, or wonder. Gaze is often indicative of wonder, fascination, awe, or admiration, as in the sentence We spent the evening gazing at the stars. Gazing is part of the (upcoming) album From a window, scheduled for March 2019 on Spotify and all major (and some minor) streaming platforms and online shops. Instrumental Duet Guitar,Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596568 Composed by Juan María Solare. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 9 pages. Juan Maria Solare #4717703. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596568). Has the Rain a Father? This piece exists in two versions: Piano solo Guitar solo (without or with electronic sounds) The piano version has no huge secrets (to clarify: the pedal is used da capo al fine without interruption). The guitar version is written in three keys: E, G and A (Dorian). The performer may choose one or another score at their convenience. The guitar version can also use effects of all kinds, or amplifiers that are not always used in classical music. At the end of 2019 an album will be released on Spotify and other online music platforms with both versions of the piece (solo piano and acoustic guitar with electronic sounds). As an example of the amplitude that the composer expects from the performers: in this record production, the guitar signal is split in two parts, panned to the right and left, and different types of effects are applied to each channel (chorus, delay, reverb of different kinds and with different parameters). The original guitar signal is also in the center. Of course, there are also the electronic sounds themselves. A preliminary version can be heard here: https://juanmariasolare.bandcamp.com/album/has-the-rain-a-father Has the Rain a Father? is a quote from the bible, specifically from the book of Job 38:28. It is part of a series of rhetorical questions that tend to convince Job of his ignorance. Has the Rain a Father? was composed in Bremen (Germany) on March 17, 2019 (plus details to the piano part on March 27). Its duration is about 4:30. I asked some people about the wording of the title. Among the meaningful answers:   Which wording is better, Has the rain a Father? or Does the Rain have a father? (Bible, Job, 38:28). It will be used as the title of a music piece for piano. Has the Rain a Father? is slightly unusual, and thus is attention-grabbing, something you want in a title. It sounds more biblical, calling attention to the allusion. In ordinary speech the Does the . . . version is more common, but for a title you don’t necessarily want common. (Johnny Wilson, former Writer and Magazine Editor (1973-1999))

Violin Duet Violin - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596615 By John Winstead and Miguel Angel Cotignola. By Juan María Solare. 20th Century,Celtic,Instructional,Irish. 5 pages. Juan Maria Solare #6208589. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596615). Highlands for two violins About the genesis of my work Highlands: There was a composition competition in Scotland (The Gordon Stewart Memorial Competition), they asked to write a short march for Scottish bagpipes. I said to myself: I don't know anything about the bagpipes, this could be an opportunity to get to know the instrument better. So I began to investigate and discovered that there is a huge literature, many works. Of course: all the works are impressively similar, because it is a relatively limited instrument (with forgiveness of the pipers). But this is an unimportant detail for our story. So, with a collection of bagpipe sheet music at hand, I began to investigate the possibilities of the instrument. And I made a huge mistake: Bagpipe scores are written without accidentals, but they are actually in A major. Sharps are not written simply because there is NO alternative. They can't play anything else (at least the traditional bagpipes), so the sheet music ommits the superfluous sharps. In short: then I composed my melody for that contest in A minor ... which is impossible to play on bagpipes. The fact of having written the melody on board a train prevented me from listening to dozens of works for bagpipes as a reference (at that time - June 2015 - I did not have a mobile internet connection). When I realized the mistake (in time) I rewrote that melody in major mode (well, Mixolydian ...), added some typical bagpipe ornamentation and retitled it: Ballone Castle (the name of the castle of the organizers of the contest, the Stewart Society). And now what do I do with the original melody, in minor mode? Instead of throwing it away (which I never do) I titled it Highlands, and it is the work that you are about to hear, or whose score you are holding. I didn't win that contest in Scotland. But I recorded Ballone Castle and posted it on Spotify: Ballone Castle (for bagpipes) - on Spotify (there is a version with drums and another without them). As for Highlands, the saxophone version was recorded by my Chinese friend Yu Han for the album Images of Elsewhere (Images of Elsewhere (saxophone)). In this case, there are also two versions: solo saxophone and sax with electronic sounds. The electronic sounds here actually simulate the typical bagpipe pedal (drone) note. A version of Highands for oboe Solo was recorded by John Winstead (Highlands (oboe solo)) Comparing both pieces (Highlands and Ballone Castle) it is verified how the simple change of mode (major / minor), in addition to the change of instrument, can work wonders for musical perception. They are two related but independent works, each with its own defined character - like two twins. But the story continues. In October 2020 I began an intense dialogue with the violinist Miguel Ãngel Cotignola, from Mendoza (Argentina). I suggested him to film Highlands. He suggestd me to write a second violin part. I did it. He filmed it on the shore of Lake Potrerillos, in Mendoza (Argentina). This video can be seen here: Highlands (for two violins)Juan María Solare

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596634 Composed by Juan María Solare. 20th Century,Instructional,Wedding. Score. 6 pages. Juan Maria Solare #6681313. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596634). Juan María Solare: Show Me the Path. piano solo Neoclassical music. Optimistic, warm, melodic, tranquil. Show me the path to where? - Towards self-realisation? - Towards the roots? - Towards a happy future? The reality was much more prosaic: what inspired this title was a mere commercial advertisement that pretended to sell me the path to gaining thousands of followers in a few days. This prompted my sceptical response. It is thus demonstrated that everything, even the banal, can be profitable and an inspiration source. This 3:10 piano prelude was composed on 7 May 2021 in Bremen, Germany. A recording of Show Me the Path, by the composer at the piano, was released through the label frtyfve (which licenced it from Janus Music & Sound, the artist's own label). 'Show me the Path' reached 'number one', i.e. It was placed at the top of Apple Music's playlist Piano Chill in the last days of December 2021. To this day, it remains on this playlist, where it receives more than 10,000 daily streams. https://open.spotify.com/track/5IdWQ6cbhF4ZZNjkU8hV3MShow Me the Path [Muéstrenme el sendero] piano solo Música neoclásica. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596601). Los ñoquis del veintinueve   – The Gnocchi of the Twenty-Ninth –   by Juan María Solare Audio: https://soundcloud.com/mihovilcevic/juan-maria-solare-los-noquis/s-bOICUjXTDyS Comments   The order of these 29 numbers is rigorously random, as is the election of the six sizes of the fonts (12, 16, 20, 24, 28 and 32 picas).   In order to determinate both dimensions I used the program I-Ching by Andrew Culver (assistant to John Cage in the '80 and '90), a program that is distributed as shareware in internet (thanks).   The colour version follows the following criterion:   - (a) prime numbers (see green) - (b) multiples of 3 (red) - (c) all other numbers (blue)     ...if it ends up being good music then what matter the procedure involved? (David Cope, New Music Composition, p. 117)     About the expression los ñoquis del 29:   The Italian word gnocchi (gnocchi is plural of gnocco, which meaning is lump) is used in Spanish often as ñoqui or ñoquis.   In the Río de la Plata (Argentina and Uruguay) are traditionally eaten on the 29th of each month, the day before payday, when people has less money. This tradition is called los ñoquis del 29 - the gnocchi of the twenty-ninth.   There are naturally other versions. The most picturesque comes from a legend of the VIIIth century (or even IIIrd century). A young physician called Pantaleon (Panteleimon) lived in Nicosia (Cyprus), who after converting to Christianity, journeyed through the North of Italy. There he practiced miraculous healings due to which he was canonized. In a certain occasion, he asked some Venetian villagers for bread, and they invited him to share their poor table. Grateful, he announced them a year of excellent fishing and harvest. The prophecy was fulfilled. Saint Pantaleon was consecrated –along with Saint Mark– patron of Venice. That episode occurred on a 29th, for this reason that day is recalled with a simple food represented by gnocchi. The accompanying ritual of putting money below the dish represents the yearning of new gift.   Outside the culinary realm, certain Argentine and Uruguayan functionaries are dismissively called ñoquis, because they only go to work at the end of the month, to justify their salary or simply to cash in for a not fulfilled work. This meaning was spread since the 1970's.   Premiere: Luis Mihovilcevic, Saturday 25 October 2008, Centro Cultural Islas Malvinas, La Plata (Argentina). * JMS * DonSolare@gmail.com *https://soundcloud.com/mihovilcevic/juan-maria-solare-los-noquis/s-bOICUjXTDyS
