This is the first of many arrangements of one of my favorite bands, Foo Fighters. Everlong is arranged for String Quartet and Optional Electric Piano. It doesn’t need to be an Electric Piano and the arrangement stands on its own without it. I have always liked the acoustic version of this tune and always imagined it with a “Smooth Latin� groove. One day she felt compelled to stand up for her friend. That one act not only helped her friend but empowered my cellist to be the champion for other girls. This arrangement began as a piece I arranged as a finale for our first combined band, orchestra, and choir concert. It was a big hit! Silent Night has always been a piece that everyone seems to hold dearly. The chorus has a traditional harmony right out of the green hymnal. This piece can also be done with a small group of singers or as a solo. The instruments parts are very accessible and the scoring makes every group sound full. One of the theatrical moments happens right after the climax of the second verse. Choke the cymbal and chimes on beat one of measure 55 and let the natural reverberance of the hall ring on. Slow the tempo, lower the volume and invite the audience to hum along to the last verse. Nothing brings musicians and audiences together like Silent Night.

Before class a few years ago, one of my 8th grade violinists ran to me before class clammering, “I just saw The Greatest Showman and the music is so AMAZING! Can you PLEEEZZ write Rewrite The Stars for us to play?� How can I say no to that? Well, I didn’t. You’ll appreciate the subtle style, groove, and dynamic changes throughout this piece. A great piece to show off the group’s finesse. Everyone get’s to play the melody and the bass player gets to use their instrument as a conga drum.

This was inspired by and written to celebrate the wedding of my son and his beautiful wife. Put yourself in a beautiful church or cathedral full of family and friends. All the attendants have taken their place at the alter with the groom. The anticipation of everyone seeing the bride for the first time is growing. Cue her grand entrance music! “Enter-The Bride.� This piece is intended to announce The Bride in a classic Grande fashion. The organ and trumpet parts are at the Medium difficulty level. The trumpet part plays up to A above the staff and the organ part has a pedal part. The piece is about 1:30 long.

I originally wrote Parker's Lullaby for our orchestra to celebrate the birth of my first grandchild, Parker. Then I wanted to explore the sounds of the concert band with this piece...so away I went. A couple of fun things went into writing this piece originally. It had to be a lullaby, represent the anticipation of her arrival and the peacefulness of her sleeping, while contrasting her whimsical side with her bold and dramatic side. A couple of other things. The chords are rather jazzy because grandpa is a rather jazzy guy. At letter C, the drum part is grandpa being playful while the flute melody is her grandma doing the same. The ranges are comfortable allowing your band to sound full and confident. I think your horns will enjoy their heroic part in the climax. I'm very pleased with how this turned out. It was important that it kept its simplicity going from strings to band. I hope you enjoy it.
