Goss wrote the hymn tune HUMILITY to accompany the text in 1871, and the text and tune were published together that same year in Christmas Carols New and Old, compiled and edited by H.R. Bramley and Sir John Stainer (1840–1901).

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1115619 By Stewart J Wallace. By John Goss (1800-1880). Arranged by Stewart J Wallace. Children,Christian,Christmas,Praise & Worship,Religious. Octavo. 2 pages. Stewart J Wallace #717389. Published by Stewart J Wallace (A0.1115619). This is an a cappella SATB arrangement that would suit church and school choirs, and could be used as a Christmas anthem. The verses have been reduced from the original text by Edward Caswall (1814-1878), which has six verses, to focus more on Christ rather than tell the full Christmas story. The first two verses begin with an echo in the upper voices, and in the third verse all the voices unite to exclaim Teach, O teach us, holy child. Ideally, this arrangement should be performed without accompaniment, but a keyboard could provide support or an arrangement for brass quartet is available separately.
