Scored for two trumpets and two trombones with opt. Horn for Trom. 1 and Bar. TC for Trom. 2. The opening begins excitedly while giving a sense of moving upward. The first presentation of the theme is very much in a march style and then breaks into more activity with rhythmic alterations. The second section moves to a new key and is essentially a trombone duet and then adds upper voices to place the piece on an elevated plain. Another modulation moves the musical thought even higher while passing the melodic motifs around to the different voices. The Coda gives a sense of elevation and arrival.

Here is a bright and upbeat instrumental trio arrangement (for FLUTE and VIOLIN duet with PIANO accompaniment) of the joyful hymn In a Little While We're Going Home by Eliza E. Hewitt.

Both the FLUTE and the VIOLIN get to lead with the melody at times making this a fun and equally challenging piece for both instruments while adding variety for the listeners. The FLUTE plays the melody for the first verse in the key of C major. During the piano interlude, the arrangement transitions to the key of G major for the second verse and the VIOLIN plays the melody. This energetic and uplifting instrumental arrangement is an ideal selection for a church setting and a valuable addition to your sacred repertoire. Duration 2:30.

The range for each part is as follows: Part 1 (FLUTE) – G4 to C6; Part 2 (VIOLIN) – B3 to A5. Hewitt was a 19th Century teacher, poet , and hymnist from Pennsylvania. Also known as Emily D. Wilson, she was a 19th Century pastor's wife and hymnist from Pennsylvania. Sections A and C are the verse. Sections B and D are the refrain. A modulation to a new key occurs towards the end of section B with the aid of a French augmented sixth chord. Then, a descant by yours truly is added beginning at section C.
