The original violin part makes extensive use of double, triple, and quadruple stops, often to the extent of imitating multiple voices in counterpoint. This transcription attempts to imitate this effect through the use of grace notes and quick arpeggios. As in the original score, dynamics are not provided for the soloist, and may be freely added at the player’s discretion.Performers will immensely benefit from listening to one or more recordings of violinists performing this piece to compare interpretations and performance practices. While this transcription largely follows the interpretation given on violinist Lina Tur Bonet’s excellent recording with the Musica Alchemica ensemble, the transcription is by no means intended to exclude other interpretations.
