Guitar - Level 5 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.925177

By Michael Jackson. By John Bettis and Steve Porcaro. Arranged by Brian Johns. Pop. Guitar Tab. 6 pages. Brian J Johns #4729477. Published by Brian J Johns (A0.925177).

Here’s an arrangement for advanced solo fingerstyle guitar of Michael Jackson’s Human Nature.  Tablature and left and right hand fingerings are included.  One particular oddity is that the 6th string has to be tuned down to a low C.  This makes the bass line possible given the range of the overall instrumentation and is quite the important feature in dance/pop music. Otherwise, just a mix of familiar chord activity, bass sustain – leaving fingers down when possible, accentuated melody tones and trying to keep the rhythm steady.

Goodbye to Love is a song composed by Richard Carpenter and John Bettis. It was released by the Carpenters in 1972. On the Close to You: Remembering The Carpenters documentary, Tony Peluso stated that this was one of the first power ballads, if not the first, to have a fuzz guitar solo. Goodbye to Love was the first Carpenters hit written by Richard Carpenter and John Bettis.

Here it is this stunning composition arranged for a brass quintet and percussion, with a huge opportunity for the trombonist to really show off. Enjoy!

The history of the song Top Of The World - The Carpenters
Top Of The World is a classic song by the American duo The Carpenters, released in 1972 and composed by Richard Carpenter and John Bettis. The song became a huge hit, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1973.

Composition and Inspiration:

The song's lyrics express the feeling of euphoria and intense happiness that true love can provide. The chorus, with the phrase I'm on top of the world, symbolizes the peak of happiness and the feeling that anything is possible when you're in love.

History:

The song was initially composed to be just one track on an album. However, when Lynn Anderson's version, released in mid-1973, was successful, the Carpenters regretted not releasing their version as a single sooner.
The Carpenters' version was released as a single on September 17, 1973 and became a huge success, reaching the top of the charts in several countries.
Top Of The World became one of the duo's most popular and beloved songs, frequently appearing on compilations and live performances.

This much loved song dates from 1972 and caused a bit of a stir. It was the first Carpenters hit composed by Richard Carpenter & John Bettis, it was also the first Carpenters song which featured a distorted guitar solo. This was played by Tony Peluso, it became a very important part of this song. Whilst it would be foolish to try and recreate this, there is a short solo towards the end purely as acknowledgement of how important it was, to the songs success. .
