Written and composed by Jonathan Larson, the musical (which is loosely based on Puccini's opera La bohème) portrays the bohemian lifestyle of young artists in Manhattan's East Village, struggling to build a life in the face of poverty, drug addiction, and HIV/AIDS.
The show won numerous awards (including a Pulitzer Prize and the Tony Award for Best Musical) and became one of the longest-running shows on Broadway.
Seasons of Love, a powerful song about the meaning of love and friendship, became the most popular song from the show, and was featured in TV series such as Glee and The Office.
