By Babes In Toyland. By Babes In Toyland. Arranged by Hadley Hazen. Contemporary. 20 pages. Hadley Hazen #4623673. Published by Hadley Hazen (A0.793409).

The film is based upon Victor Herbert's popular 1903 operetta Babes in Toyland. There had been a 1934 film also titled Babes in Toyland starring Laurel and Hardy, and three television adaptations prior to the Disney film, but Disney's was only the second film version of the operetta released to movie theatres and the first in Technicolor. The plot, and in some cases the music, bear little resemblance to the original, as Disney had most of the lyrics rewritten and some of the song tempos drastically changed, including the memorable song Toyland, a slow ballad, which was sped up with only the chorus sung in a march-like rhythm. Enjoy this Clarinet Choir arrangement..

Composed by Marvin Hatley. Arranged by Antonio Cericola. Contemporary. Score. 1 pages. Antonio Cericola #6332249. Published by Antonio Cericola (A0.934269).

Thomas Marvin Hatley (April 3, 1905 – August 23, 1986), professionally known simply as Marvin Hatley, was an American film composer and musical director, best known for his work for the Hal Roach studio from 1929 until 1940.

Hatley wrote many of the musical cues appearing in the Our GangLaurel and Hardy, and Charley Chase films. His most memorable composition is Dance of the Cuckoos[1] (also known as Ku-Ku, or The Cookoo Song),[2] which serves as Laurel and Hardy's theme song. He was also the player piano (performing off-screen) in The Music Box (1932). His work in Laurel and Hardy's films Way Out West and Block-Heads earned him nominations for the Academy Award for Best Original Score.[3]

In 1939, Hatley was fired from the Roach studio. At the insistence of Stan Laurel, however, he did return to score one final Laurel & Hardy film, Saps at Sea. Hatley went on to become a lounge pianist, and often remarked that he earned more money in that career than during his days at the Roach studio.

Marvin Hatley was a native of Reed, Oklahoma. He died on August 23, 1986 in Hollywood, California.

By Rita Arendz. By Nora Bayes-Norworth. Arranged by Rita Arendz. 20th Century,Broadway,Contest,Festival,Film/TV,Musical/Show,Traditional. Score and Parts. 18 pages. Rita Arendz #881478. Published by Rita Arendz (A0.1290783).

With its debut in 1908 on Broadway in New York City, this pop standard from the Vaudeville show Ziegfried's Follies has been covered by such artists as Liza Minelli, Bing Crosby, and as late as 2017, by Indie folk singer Mree (Marie Hsiao).
Shine on Harvest Moon also has a long association with Hollywood films such as Shine on Harvest Moon (1932 animation), a Roy Rogers' western, Pennies from Heaven, and the British comedy show Shine on Harvey Moon.  The song and dance duo of Laurel and Hardy also used the song.
This arrangement for Brass Sextet with optional percussion is a bit of a through back to the original setting, with a mix of the campy uptempo setting, then into the more melancholy style of someone scared of the dark, while their partner is trying to tell them, they are in love and should get married.  For the conversation to occur, the moon must shine.
Harvest Moon refers to the Full Moon closest to the Autumnal Equinox (for 2023, which will be September 23rd).
Instrumentation is for British Brass Band ensemble of two cornets, tenor horn, tenor trombone TC, Bb Euphonium, and Eb Bass.  Orchestral brass alternates are included.
Duration 3:45   18 pages.

Composed by Michael Balfe. Arranged by Tom Horton. 19th Century,Classical,Opera. Score. 2 pages. Tom Horton #832320. Published by Tom Horton (A0.1236790).

I Dreamt I Dwelt in Marble Halls – a lovely arrangement of the popular aria by Michael Balfe from his operatta 'The Bohemian Girl'

The Bohemian Girl is an Irish Romantic opera composed by Michael William Balfe with a libretto by Alfred Bunn. The plot is loosely based on a Miguel de Cervantes' tale, La gitanilla. The best-known aria from the piece is I Dreamt I Dwelt in Marble Halls in which the main character, Arline, describes her vague memories of her childhood of a nobler upbringing having been kidknapped by Gypsy's as a very young girl.

The best-known version of the operatta is undoubtedly the 1936 full-length Laurel and Hardy film, described in the opening credits as A Comedy Version of The Bohemian Girl. The characters played by Laurel and Hardy do not appear in the stage opera.

This piece is a single sheet extract from Tom's piano book Pianistic 1 which you can purchase in full via this website.

Composed by Marc Oliver. Contemporary. Score and parts. 134 pages. Ayotte Custom Musical Engravings #2347499. Published by Ayotte Custom Musical Engravings (A0.733039).

Rascals! is an interesting piece that I wrote. I was commissioned by Bill Park of the North Roy-alton Community Band of North Royalton Ohio in early 2011. He wanted me to write a piece similar to one that contained familiar tunes from the Looney Toons cartoons of Warner Brothers that would sound like music used by the Little Rascals and Laurel & Hardy movies of the early 1930s. If you have ever seen these old movies you will notice that the music in the soundtrack never did coincide with what was happening on the screen (with the exception of a funny or romantic moment or a chase scene). It is as if you were watching a movie in your living room and some-body in the next room was playing his stereo just loud enough for you to notice the music. Well thats how I wrote Rascals! trying to keep Mr. Shields writing style intact while integrating my own style without covering him up. Rascals! was premiered by the North Royalton Community Band in their hometown in May 2011 and was well received by both the band and the audience.
