Battery percussion was thoughtfully composed to add specific rudiments for your students to work toward perfecting: Paradiddle, 9-Stroke Roll, and Flams are featured within very accessible rhythms and tempo.

Optional front ensemble (pit) is definitely not full of woodwind doubling, and can be tailored to fit your needs or left out altogether - but it adds a lot of color!

Monteverdi's third book of madrigals of 1592 is one of the earliest steps towards the writing of opera as we know it. In this collection of songs, Monteverdi, for the first time, starts to bring small groups of songs (2 or 3) to form a 'Scena - a collection with similar words or on a similar theme or by the same poet and keeping them as a little group within the book of madrigals.

The 17th song, Io pur verrò begins as follows: I will come when I am thirsty and you will have my thirst for love. It concludes the second 'scena' within this book, a group of three linked songs (Nos 15-17) which is also available as a single download as the singer conquers his lady's reluctance.

As with all of Monteverdi's vocal music, it translates really well onto instruments. The individual madrigals are available separately. This flexible arrangement is equally playable on woodwind ensembles as on brass.

Hey y'all!  I've been inspired by this music for as long as I can remember. It all started in college and has remained to this day. I lived it. Breathed it. Ate it. And, slept with it (literally). And through listening and experimenting, perhaps the music will inspire you, too. There's a lot to digest. So, it's very important to take the time to enjoy it.

Keep practicing these examples. Create some of your own. This book should be used as a springboard to your success! It's just a blueprint. Make these grooves and exercises YOURS! Use a metronome. Look, metronomes don't lie. They will keep you in line and will ensure your accuracy as you traverse through the different styles.

Y'all inspire me! I remember in college, when I was just thirsty for knowledge. I wanted as much as I could get, as quickly as I could get it. I listened to music. I went out to check out live shows. I played in more than my fair share of bands. And, have performed around the world with TONS of great musicians and people, as a result!
