Organ - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1083503 Composed by David Neff and Enoch Sontonga. Arranged by David Neff. Folk,Multicultural,Patriotic,Sacred,Traditional,World. Score. 4 pages. David Neff #687709. Published by David Neff (A0.1083503). Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika was written as a prayer for the freedom and prosperity Africa during a time when most of the continent was dominated by European colonial powers. It later became the anthem of several African countries, and during the presidency of Nelson Mandela, it was folded into the South African national anthem. The song had been banned during the apartheid years because of its association with the ANC. It was the South African counterpart to the role played by We Shall Overcome in the Civil Rights struggle in the U.S. These gentle. reflective variations for organ are appropriate at any time of year, but especially during Black History Month. I wrote this piece to honor the African immigrant families in the church I serve as music director.

Colin Kirkpatrick’sNational Anthems ExpressSouth Africa: Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrikaThis quick and easy national anthem arrangement is essential for traveling musicians, bands, instrumental groups and both amateur and professional ensembles. You can play it with any virtually any combination of instruments: symphonic band, clarinet choir, brass ensemble, brass band, solos, duets and trios - almost anything! The arrangement is in six independent parts each transposed into a variety of keys. For example, in the audio sample you’ll hear that the woodwind alone has been given the melody beginning in measure 24. The arrangement consists of a four-page score with seven instrumental staves and three percussion staves. The score and all the parts are contained in the same 34-page pdf file. The following parts appear on separate pages:Part 1 in B flat (clarinet, trumpet, cornet, flugelhorn, soprano sax); Part 1 in C (oboe, violin); Part 1 in E flat (alto sax, E flat clarinet); Part 1a in C (octave above concert for flute, piccolo, oboe, violin) and Part 1a in E flat (E flat cornet in brass band).Part 2 in B flat (clarinet, trumpet, cornet, flugelhorn, soprano sax); Part 2 in C (violin); Part 2 in E flat (alto sax); Part 2a in C (octave above concert pitch for flute, oboe, violin); Part 2a in B flat for clarinets; Part 2a in E flat (minor 3rd below concert for E flat alto clarinet).Part 3 in B flat (tenor saxophone, B flat baritone); Part 3 in C (bass clef for trombone, bassoon); Part 3 in C alto (alto clef for viola); Part 3 in E flat    (tenor horn, alto sax); Part 3 in F (French horn); Part 3a in B flat (8ve below concert for 3rd clarinets in band).Part 4 in B flat (tenor sax, baritone); Part 4 in C (bass clef for trombone, euphonium, bassoon, cello); Part 4 in E flat (tenor horn); Part 4 in F (French horn).Part 5 in B flat (baritone); Part 5 in C (bass clef for trombone, euphonium, bassoon).Part 6 in B flat (B flat bass, bass clarinet); Part 6 in C (bass clef for bass trombone, bassoon, contrabassoon, tuba, double bass); Part 6 in E flat     (E flat bass, baritone sax). Marching Band - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.922398 Composed by M.L. de Villiers. Arranged by Noah & Clyde. 20th Century,Contemporary,Film/TV,Standards. Score and parts. 7 pages. Noah & Clyde #4796751. Published by Noah & Clyde (A0.922398). Die Stem van Suid-Afrika (Afrikaans: [di ˈstɛm fan sœi̯t ˈɑːfrika], lit. The Voice of South Africa), also known as The Call of South Africa or simply Die Stem (Afrikaans: [di ˈstɛm]), is a former national anthem of South Africa. There are two versions of the song, one in English and the other in Afrikaans, which were used during much of the apartheid era. It was the sole national anthem from 1957 to 1994, and shared co-national anthem status with God Save the King/Queen from 1938 to 1957. After the end of apartheid in the early 1990s, it was retained as a co-national anthem along with Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika from 1994 to 1997, when a new hybrid song incorporating elements of both songs was adopted as the country's new national anthem, which is still in use today.

Piano - Digital Download SKU: A0.1083021 Composed by Daniel Carr. African,Contemporary,Standards,World. Full Performance. Duration 543. Daniel Carr #29943. Published by Daniel Carr (A0.1083021). Lesotho Variations for Solo Piano, Opus 1, was my first mature work as a composer. I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Lesotho from 1995 to 1997 when I was in my early 20s. I wrote this work several years after returning to the United States. Each variation is based on a scene from Lesotho, some being an everyday activity, such as plowing fields or looking out over the mountains. The earlier variations are more light-hearted than the later variations, which deal with more serious issues including drought and illness. While all of the variations are based on the Lesotho National Anthem, an additional song, Mohololi, also appears in the later variations. I heard the song just once, at the funeral of a fellow Peace Corps Volunteer, Jeremy Rolfs, who died in a car accident in South Africa at the young age of 27. Jeremy and I had discussed composing an opera based on music and stories from Lesotho. While that project never came to fruition, I offer this work in his memory.
