Flute - intermediate to advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q19998 On the principal difficulties. Composed by Claude-Paul Taffanel. This edition: Sheet music. Essential Exercises. Downloadable. Schott Music - Digital #Q19998. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q19998). Taffanel's flute playing, his merits for the flute music and his educational work are legendary. Among his pupils were the greatest French flautists, such as Fleury, Barrère, Moyse and Philippe Gaubert. The authoritative textbook of the French flute method, Méthode complète de flûte, was created by Taffanel in collaboration with Gaubert, his favourite pupil and later successor at the Conservatoire. It was finished and published by Gaubert after Taffanel's death. These 24 progressive studies from the Méthode complète de flûte have now been made available outside the method for the first time, covering all major technical aspects of flute playing and thus being ideal for advanced pupils, students and ambitious music lovers.

Chamber Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.772375 Composed by Gabriel Faure. Arranged by Amir Awad. Concert,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 49 pages. Amir Awad #3506351. Published by Amir Awad (A0.772375). This piece is originally composed by Gabriel Fauré for Flute and piano , and it is arranged for Flute and String OrchestraThis elegant solo has some beautiful melodic lines and is Impressionistic in form and harmony. An excellent teaching piece to emphasize phrasing and musicality, or a great programming choice when a lovely lyrical moment is needed! This famous work is dedicated to Paul Taffanel, often called the father of the modern French school of the flute. He was a busy man, active at the Opéra de Paris, in the Conservatoire concerts, as the leader of the Orchestre de la Société des Instruments à Vent, and, from 1893, as a professor at the Conservatoire. Fauré was appointed professor of composition there in 1896, and it was almost inevitable that Taffanel should ask him, in the spring of 1898, to write a sight-reading piece (the Morceau de lecture) and a concours composition for the July examinations. Fauré decided to pass the orchestration of his incidental music for Maeterlinck's play Pelléas et Mélisande, on which he had been feverishly working, to his pupil Charles Koechlin, so he could get to grips with the concours piece. The Fantaisie for flute and piano occupied him from the beginning of June until at least mid-July.The piece opens with an E-minor sicilienne of great charm, but soon gets to a C-major Allegro filled with lightning-fast pyrotechnics. Writing to Koechlin, Fauré complained:I am drowned in the Taffanel and plunged up to my neck in scales, arpeggios, and staccati! I have already perpetrated 104 bars of this irksome torture The first performance of the Fantaisie was given by the concours winner, Gaston Blanquart, on July 28, 1898.

Flute,Piano - Digital Download SKU: A0.1035214 Composed by Fréderic François Chopin ( 1810-1849). Arranged by Paul Taffanel, James Strauss. Romantic Period. Score and part. 7 pages. James Strauss #3518023. Published by James Strauss (A0.1035214). Étude Op. 10, No. 2, in A minor, is a technical study composed by Frédéric Chopin for the piano. It was preceded by a relative major key. Composed in 1829, it was first published in 1833 in France, Germany, and England. This Ã©tude is an exercise in developing the independence of the weaker fingers of the right hand by playing rapid chromatic scale figures with the third, fourth, and fifth fingers of the right hand. Meanwhile, the first two fingers of the right and the left hand play an accompaniment of short chords and single notes. Chopin indicated the fingering himself note by note for almost 800 notes. Paul Taffanel transcribe this Etude for solo flute as an Etudeof Chromatism, and I Re- arranged it add the piano accompaniment. .

Flute and piano - difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q47041 Composed by Karl Joachim Andersen. This edition: Sheet music. The Kyle Dzapo Series. Downloadable. Op. 3. Duration 17 minutes. Musikverlag Zimmermann - Digital #Q47041. Published by Musikverlag Zimmermann - Digital (S9.Q47041). German • English. The virtuoso Concertstück, Op. 3, is a masterfully written, large-scale work that Paul Taffanel selected as the required piece for the Paris Conservatory’s concours of 1895. Taffanel had performed the work shortly after it was composed in the early 1880s and remained its enthusiastic admirer. In an age when many flutist-composers were writing only light-hearted theme-and-variation pieces and opera medleys, Andersen, in his Concertstück, demonstrates his ability to create a substantial sonata-form composition that is harmonically, contrapuntally, and formally refined.

Flute and piano - intermediate to advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q53385 Op. 6/5. Composed by Charles Marie Widor. Edited by Edmund Wachter and Elisabeth Weinzierl. This edition: Sheet music. (c) 2020 Schott Music GmbH & Co. KG, Mainz. Classical. Downloadable. Volume op. 6/5. 7 pages. Schott Music - Digital #Q53385. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q53385). English • German.Having grown up in a family of organ-builders and organists, the path of Charles-Marie Widor as an organist was predestined. In 1870 he moved from Lyon, the town of his birth, to Paris and became titular organist at Saint-Sulpice. In 1890 Widor succeeded César Franck as professor of organ studies at the Paris Conservatoire, where six years later he was appointed professor of composition, too. Alongside orchestral works, solo concertos, vocal pieces and chamber music, Widor’s most important musical achievement was his contribution to the genre of the organ symphony. His Suite op. 34 for flute and piano, structured around a Romance (1881) and composed for Paul Taffanel, may be considered as marking the beginning of the modern French flute school: here for the first time a composition makes full use of the bright tone of the Böhm flute, as introduced to the music world by Taffanel and his pupils. This Sérénade op. 65 is the arrangement of a duo for harmonium and organ. No further information about the arranger has been found. Plate no. 27148 / published in 1903.

Flute and piano - intermediate to advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q53374 (Nr. 24). Composed by Franz Joseph Haydn. Edited by Edmund Wachter and Elisabeth Weinzierl. Arranged by Louis Fleury. This edition: Sheet music. (c) 2020 Schott Music GmbH & Co. KG, Mainz. Classical. Downloadable. 5 pages. Schott Music - Digital #Q53374. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q53374). English • German.Joseph Haydn wrote his Symphony Hob. I:24 in D major in 1764, when he was deputy music director in the service of Prince Nikolaus I. Esterházy, before his appointment as Director of music in 1766. In the second movement, Adagio, the flute plays a cantabile solo melody, sparingly accompanied by orchestral strings. This movement sounds as though it were from a flute concerto, readily suggesting an arrangement for flute and piano. This arrangement is by flautist Louis Fleury, who was born in Lyon; at the age of fifteen he moved to Paris, where he spent the rest of his life. After studying with Paul Taffanel he decided upon a career as a freelance flautist – a very unusual choice at the time. Fleury rediscovered early music and commissioned new music, too: Debussy’s , for example, was dedicated to him. Through the publication of several essays Fleury made a significant contribution to the acceptance of the flute as a fully fledged concert instrument in the 20th Century. Plate no. 29512 / published in 1912.
