By Anne Murray. By Bob House and Wayland Holyfield. Arranged by Timothy Stapay. Country,Film/TV,Pop,Singer/Songwriter,Standards. Score. 4 pages. Timothy Stapay #836965. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1241593).

A traditionl Country-Style arrangement of Could I Have This Dance; from the movie Urban Cowboy.

Could I Have This Dance is a song recorded by the Canadian country music artist Anne Murray. It was used in the 1980 film Urban Cowboy and appeared on both the Urban Cowboy soundtrack album for that film, as well as on the Anne Murray's Greatest Hits compilation album, issued in late 1980. Later on, it also appeared on Murray's 2007 album Anne Murray Duets: Friends & Legends, performed as a duet with Amy Grant.

As a single, it was released in August 1980 and became Murray's fifth number one country hit as a solo artist. It went to number one for one week and spent a total of ten weeks on the country chart.  Could I Have This Dance was also Murray's tenth Top 40 on the U.S. pop singles chart, peaking at number 33.  The song was written by Wayland Holyfield and Bob House.

Lyrics:

I'll always remember the song they were playin'
The first time we danced and I knew
As we swayed to the music and held to each other
I fell in love with you

Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?
Would you be my partner every night?
When we're together it feels so right
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?

I'll always remember that magic moment
When I held you close to me
As we moved together, I knew forever
You're all I'll ever need

Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?
Would you be my partner every night?
When we're together it feels so right
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?

Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?
Would you be my partner every night?
When we're together it feels so right
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?

This brass quintet arrangement of Ennio Morricone's beautiful piece Gabriel's Oboe from the movie The Mission is perfect for recitals, weddings, educational outreach, holiday events, and funerals. It features a solo Eb trumpet from within the quintet as a substitute for a solo oboe. I have included alternate Bb solo trumpet and alternate C solo trumpet parts if those instruments are preferred. The piece can be performed by advanced high school quintets through college and professional ensembles.

If you like this arrangement, you might also like my brass quintet arrangement of Henry Fillmore's classic march, Men of Ohio. It's available on:

Small Ensemble Cello,Flute,High Voice,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.976441

Composed by Scott Anthony Shell. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 20 pages. Tikadori Music #2062393. Published by Tikadori Music (A0.976441).

For Soprano, Flute, Cello and Piano --Composed in 2014 --Poem by Delmira Augustini Amor is a poem by Delmira Agustini, considered to be the most important female Latin American poet of the early 20th century. She was born in Uruguay and was the daughter of Italian immigrants. She was murdered by her ex-husband at the age of 27. The poem is in three stanzas and the music follows the form. The instrumental refrain opens the piece, ends the piece, and is performed between stanzas. The instruments play overlapping patterns of different durations that hover around a major 2nd interval of F and E-flat, and simple chords created by these two pitches. The verses have a rhythmically interlocking pattern between the left hand piano part and the flute. Meanwhile the cello plays a strict serial part of 5 notes and 7 duration, which cause a change in harmony against the piano and flute. The vocal melody fills in the resulting random harmonies, sometimes anticipating the chord change that results from the cello line. The effect is a dreamy kind of randomness, that evokes that mystical period between awake and dreaming. The right hand part of the piano during the verses, the knocking of the wood of the piano, came to me as an alternative to adding more notes during this section, which I preferred keeping stark, to help bring out the different melodies and resulting harmonies. This is the first time I have composed in Spanish, my adopted language which I love.
