Composed by Sam H. Stept and Sidney Clare. Arranged by Jay Dougherty. A Cappella,Contemporary,Jazz,Standards. 5 pages. Jay Dougherty #872605. Published by Jay Dougherty (A0.1281261).

As sung by Ella Fitzgerald, this big band classic is arranged by Jay Dougherty for SAATB+solo (6 total parts) a cappella. It is meant to be performed with a jazz ensemble accompaniment, but could be performed solo as a short piece without repeat. It serves well as a fun, upbeat concert closer or encore piece!

By Ella Fitzgerald. By George Gershwin. Arranged by Bud Caputo. 20th Century,Chamber,Jazz. 26 pages. Bud Caputo #859153. Published by Bud Caputo (A0.1266398).

Oh, Lady Be Good! is a 1924 song by George and Ira Gershwin. It was introduced by Walter Catlett in the Broadway musical Lady, Be Good! written by Guy Bolton, Fred Thompson, and the Gershwin brothers and starring Fred and Adele Astaire. The song was also performed by the chorus in the film Lady Be Good (1941), although the film is unrelated to the musical.
A 1947 recording of the song became a hit for Ella Fitzgerald, notable for her scat solo. For her album Ella Fitzgerald Sings the George and Ira Gershwin Songbook (1959), it was sung as a ballad arranged by Nelson Riddle.

By Ella Fitzgerald. By Traditional. Arranged by Vanessa Klassen. Jazz,Religious,Spiritual,Standards. 21 pages. Vanessa Klassen #735208. Published by Vanessa Klassen (A0.1135165).

ā€œJust a Closer Walk with Theeā€ dates back to the southern African-American churches of the nineteenth century, frequently being performed as part of a traditional New Orleans-style funeral march. Composer Kenneth Morris heard a train station porter singing the song while traveling from Kansas City to Chicago in 1940. The music became so prominent in his mind that Morris exited his train and took a different train back to the previous station to ask the porter to sing it again. Morris wrote down the music and lyrics and had the song published. The song soon became a standard in both the gospel and jazz genres and has since been recorded by numerous artists. The original author or composer is unknown. This arrangement for clarinet quintet is closely based on Ella Fitzgeraldā€™s recording of the song which was featured on her 1967 album, ā€œBrighten the Corner.ā€ Ellaā€™s voice is represented in the Clarinet 1 part which has been transcribed exactly as she sung. There is also a simplified Clarinet 1 part which is easier to read and allows the soloist more freedom to embellish as desired. The accompanying parts are the background vocals and upright bass, with the light piano riffs in the Eā™ Clarinet part. The Eā™ part may be omitted for an easier quartet version. The biggest challenge in this arrangement is the balance as the solo is often in the lower register of the clarinet (below the break).

'Lean on Meā€™ for soloist, mixed chorus, and piano. This arrangement is separated into an upper, middle, and lower part and can be performed by a variety of ensemble configurations: SSA, SAT, or SAB. It is approximately 3ā€™00ā€ minutes in length. The gospel influenced harmonies are accessible and fun! Solo in Verse 1, an energetic a-cappella section in Verse 3, and the accompaniment in the ending section ā€˜Call Meā€™ gives the piano a chance to play some crunchy, bluesy riffs under the voices. My name is Tyler Fitzgerald - Iā€™m a composer, arranger and choir director based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I create accessible arrangements that play to the strengths of community choirs and non-auditioned singing groups. By Bud Powell. By Vernon Duke. Arranged by Kevin Riley. 20th Century,Film/TV,Jazz,Standards. Score and parts. 31 pages. Kevin Riley #457309. Published by Kevin Riley (A0.850639).

Autumn in New York is a jazz standard and popular song composed by Vernon Duke in Westport, Connecticut in the summer of 1934. It was written without a commission or for a specific show, but Duke offered it to producer Murray Anderson for his Broadway musical Thumbs Up!. The play opened on December 27, 1934 where the song was performed by singer J. Harold Murray. Many versions of the song have been recorded over the years by numerous musicians and singers. The only version to achieve chart success as a single in the USA was that by Frank Sinatra which reached No. 27 in 1949. Jazz versions have been performed by The Hi Lo's, Charlie Parker, Billie Holiday, Bing Crosby, Stan Kenton, Sarah Vaughan, Sheila Jordan, Bill Evans, Tal Farlow, Ahmad Jamal, Buddy De Franco, Salvador Sobral, Al Haig, Diana Krall, and a duet version by Scottish singers Todd Gordon and Carol Kidd. Composed by Clarence Williams and Spencer Williams. Arranged by L.C. Harnsberger. Blues,Chamber,Historic,Jazz,Standards. 26 pages. LCH Music #1069899. Published by LCH Music (A0.1493246).

“Royal Garden Blues” was written by Clarence and Spencer Williams in 1919, and first became a hit in 1921 when it was recorded by The Original Dixieland Jazz Band. It is considered the first popular song to be based on a riff (a repetitive short rhythmic phrase) and is now a jazz standard.

This timeless blues song has since been performed by bands led by Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, and Al Hirt; blues artists Mamie Smith, Ethel Waters, and Ella Fitzgerald; legendary performers Bix Beiderbecke, Sidney Bechet, Pete Fountain, Django Reinhardt, Art Tatum; and more recently by Chet Atkins, Herb Ellis, Branford Marsalis, and the Canadian Brass.

This woodwind quintet arrangement is based on the upbeat recording by pianist Cliff Jackson, giving it an unmistakable 1940s stride feel with relentless rhythm and colorful harmonies. Each player has interesting parts, making it enjoyable for both performers and the audience. This fun and exhilarating piece is perfect for any concert.
