Piano,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.857514 Composed by Anthony Giamanco. Contemporary,Contest,Festival,New Age,Wedding. 11 pages. Whole Tone Press #464004. Published by Whole Tone Press (A0.857514). A wistful 'serenade' for violin and piano. The gentle melody that weaves its way through the 'A' section becomes suddenly more restless during the 'B' section before returning to 'A' in a new key (Tempo Primo, ma appassionato). Just as the passion subsides a bit, 'B' returns with the same urgency as before, growing more intense as the final iteration of the 'A' section, in a new key, asserts itself (fortissimo), gradually subsiding to pianissimo as the piece comes to a tranquil close. Anthony Giamanco is a member of ASCAP. His many piano, organ, choir, and chamber works are in the catalogs of numerous publishers including GIA, Shawnee Press, Alfred, Augsburg Fortress, Lorenz, and others. String Quintet Cello,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1447120 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Stephen Levintow. Classical. 69 pages. Cypress Publishing #1026899. Published by Cypress Publishing (A0.1447120). Soon after moving to Vienna in 1781, Mozart wrote what turned out to be his last, and finest, three serenades for wind ensemble. He himself arranged the one in c minor, Köchel 388, for string quintet (2 violins, 2 violas and cello), and that version is known as K. 406. Most of the serenade in B-Flat Major, K 361, sometimes called Gran Partita or Serenade for 13 Instruments, was also arranged for the same quintet combination, apparently by someone else, with the movements divided up between Quintets No. 6 and 7 in the second volume of the standard Peters Edition set of parts for Mozart’s string quintets. The remaining serenade, K. 375, is appearing in a string quintet arrangement for the first time that I know of. While it does not have the dramatic intensity of K. 388/406 or the grand sweep of K. 361, it is a worthy companion to the other two works. He composed it “carefully”, as he explained in a letter to his father, and the piece is full of striking details that show this. In the first movement, the second subject is surprisingly in a dark minor key, and the development is based on it. But it does not appear in the recapitulation, replaced instead by a new major key theme. The first of the two minuets also has a brooding trio in minor. The heart of the work is the Adagio, one of Mozart’s great slow movements, and it should be better known. The long-spun overlapping melodies work particularly well for strings. The finale starts as a conventional Rondo, but breaks off into an extended fugal section (again starting in a minor key!) that gives the movement weight and power beyond a typical formula rondo. This arrangement transposes the original E-Flat Major to D Major, to take advantage of string sonority while making some of the passage work lie better for the instruments. Score and parts follow the current convention of listing the composer’s middle name as Amadeus, even though he did not favor it: His only recorded use was a letter he signed Wolfgangus Amadeus Mozartus, clearly intended as a joke. He preferred the Italian or French versions, Amadeo or Amadé, of his German given name Gottlieb (which he also rarely if ever used). CYPRESS PUBLISHING is pleased to be the imprint for arrangements for string ensemble by Stephen Levintow. He is a free lance professional violist and violinist specializing in chamber music, who began making string quartet and trio arrangements for wedding, party and corporate events, to expand the repertory or to improve on existing versions. Selections include unusual pieces by both familiar and lesser-known composers, plus standard classical and popular favorites. The goal is to produce high-quality, musically satisfying arrangements faithful to the composer’s original material, yet sight-readable in most cases by working professionals or intermediate to advanced students. The full range of normal string technique is employed, while avoiding unnecessary technical complexity. Melodic material is distributed throughout the four voices where appropriate, to maintain listener and performer interest. All parts and scores are set in Sibelius© software format, with careful attention to legibility and page turns.

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.745312 Composed by P. I. Tchaikovsky. Arranged by Diego Marani. Classical,Contest,Festival,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 23 pages. Diego Marani #353325. Published by Diego Marani (A0.745312). Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings in C Major was written with an ear towards one of his idols, a certain 18th century composer by the name of Mozart. The title and structure of the piece are taken from the serenades of the latter, though this is certainly Tchaikovsky's own particularly 19th century rendering of these older ideas. That it is a masterful work, is demonstrated by the fact that it still remains among the most performed and appreciated by the public alongside the serenades by Antonín Dvořák and Josef Suk. Cast in a classical four movement outlay, the work begins with a sonata form movement (Tchaikovsky calls it a sonatina, i.e. little sonata, though it is a rather robust form, replete with a slow introduction and full development). This arrangement for string quartet (Violin I, Violin II, Viola, Cello) reflects faithfully the original and is suitable for classroom, repertoire and recital.

String Ensemble,String Trio Cello,Viola,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533555 Composed by Carson Cooman. Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 19 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3018603. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533555). Schumann Serenade (2007) for string trio was written for the Rosetta Trio and is dedicated to Fordand Susan Schumann with great appreciation. (Thus, the title refers primarily to the dedicatees, rather than composer Robert Schumann.)The work begins with a slow introduction that sets forth much of the musical material for the restof the work. A faster, “flowing†section tries to establish itself but continues to break down into runsand trilling, finally leading to a brief, dancing scherzo. Following the scherzo, a more developedversion of the opening introduction returns before a quiet coda closes the work.In this final section, referencing the name of the dedicatees, recognizable fragments are heard from awork of Robert Schumann: “Der Dichter Sprichtâ€, the evocative final movement from his pianosuite Kinderszenen, op. 15 (1838). Many small allusions (rhythms, harmonies, and melodicfragments) to this piano work have occurred throughout the earlier sections of the trio, but finallythey are allowed to come to the foreground in the closing minutes.

Instrumental Duet,Piano Cello,Instrumental Duet,Piano,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522202 Composed by Colin Kirkpatrick. Concert,Holiday,Love,Wedding. Score and parts. 9 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #3409289. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522202). Valentine Serenade is a delightful pastoral piece which would be an effective encore or program item for any occasion. It would of course be especially appropriate for birthdays or any musical occasion around Valentine’s Day. Scored for violin, cello and piano this 3/4 piece is in F major but ventures through many other keys as it wends its way along. The piano part has been purposely kept as simple as possible but the violin and cello parts are for more advanced players who are comfortable with chromatic notes, especially in the short middle section. The cello part is in the bass clef throughout and the top note is A flat an octave above the staff and the violin part has a top note of E flat just above the treble staff. With a running time of just over two minutes this romantic piece with its rich harmonies is sure to charm audiences and give excellent practice in developing a smooth cantabile tone quality.

The second movement is a gracious waltz that updates the requisite dance movement (which in Mozart's time would have been a stately minuet) to a more contemporary dance form. In any case, the waltz is almost deceptively complex. The harmonic shifts are numerous and often sudden and always deftly crafted. The texture is somewhat of a departure from the previous movement in that there is a discernible lightness of touch in the waltz. This arrangement for string quartet (Violin I, Violin II, Viola, Cello) reflects faithfully the original and is suitable for classroom, repertoire and recital.

Piano,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.534583 Composed by Claude Debussy/Robert Orledge. 20th Century,Concert,Romantic Period,Standards. 21 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #4727479. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534583). Preface:In the early 1890s, Debussy composed the opening of a lyrical piece in E major for violin and piano, perhaps as a shorter companion piece for the violin Nocturne he was planning for the Belgian violinist Eugène Ysaÿe. After Debussy’s death in 1918, his second wife Emma often gave away sketch pages to performers or composers as memorials to her beloved husband , and this particular page was given to the Cuban born pianist and composer Joaquin Nin (1879-1949). It came up for sale in the catalogue of the British antiquarian dealer Lisa Cox in 2010 and although it might possibly be an early song for contralto and piano, the more dynamic idea in bar 12 strongly suggests the violin, especially as it begins on an open D string. Moreover, there is no text and in pieces of this length, Debussy usually wrote at least one word in, if only to remind himself where he had got to in any song. So my starting point was a complete 12-bar melody gently undulating in the violin’s lowest register over a sensual accompaniment, rising to a climax in bar 12 and giving me a contrasting idea that I could use as a link between sections and in the cadenza. As the B section (bars 14-26) derives directly from Debussy’s opening theme by metamorphosis, my own additions were restricted to the central section (bars 27-57) - comprising a new scherzando idea (C) and the more lyrical D (bars 36-46). C returns at bar 47, followed by the opening sections in reverse order, so that the Sérénade begins and ends with Debussy’s material and is cast in arch form (ABCDCBA). Robert OrledgeBrighton, 19 June 2019Robert Orledge was born in Bath in 1948 and educated at Clare College, Cambridge, where he gained his doctorate for his study of the composer Charles KÅ“chlin in 1973.   Between 1971 and 1991 He rose from Lecturer to Professor in the Music Department of the University of Liverpool, publishing books on Gabriel Fauré, Claude Debussy, Charles KÅ“chlin and Erik Satie, as well as numerous articles, editions and reviews.   As a historical musicologist, Professor Orledge specialized in the way composers composed, ,and since taking early retirement in 2004, he has concentrated on completing and orchestrating Debussy’s unfinished works, and especially his theatre projects. His completion of Debussy’s opera The Fall of the House of Usher (1908-17) was successfully premiered at the Bregenz Opera Festival in Austria in August 2006 and has since been performed in America, Portugal Germany and Holland, as well as being broadcast throughout Europe. A DVD of the Bregenz premier is available on Capriccio 93517, produced by Phylida Lloyd and conducted by Lawrence Foster. His completion of the Chinese ballet No-ja-li ou Le Palais du Silence (1914) was also premiered in 2006 in Los Angeles and other completions include La Saulaie and the Nocturne and Poème for violin and orchestra as well as Debussy’s other Poe opera Le Diable dans le Beffroi.
