This social division has been compounded by extreme social and physical isolation during the COVID-19 crisis. In light of these developments, I felt that this piece’s message was needed now in 2020 more than ever. The tune Prospect is by far one of the most beautiful American melodies from the 1800s. The text was inspired by the beauty of human connection and the feelings we experience when parting ways: sadness and happy remembrance. The text attempts to invoke healing as we keep everyone we hold dear etched on our hearts. This arrangement is an accessible, early intermediate arrangement for SAB chorus.       - Christopher Durigg.

Arranged by Ralph Lee Smith with Madeline MacNeil. Dulcimer: Mountain, Folk. Old Time. E-book. Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music #98423EB. Published by Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music (M0.98423EB). ISBN 9781609742645. 8.75x11.75 inches. This book provides 20 beautiful Anglo-American folk songs, field-collected by two remarkable real-life song catchers, Josephine McGill and Loraine Wyman, in the Cumberland Mountains of Kentucky in 1914 and 1916. Josephine and Loraine, the latter accompanied by Howard Brockway, a composer and arranger, were among the first persons to search for folk songs in the Southern Appalachians. The musical adventurers traveled hundreds of miles on horseback and on foot through an inaccessible world to which radios, roads and cars had not yet come. They made friends in isolated log cabins, and transcribed some 200 song treasures, some of which they published in complex arrangements in books that are now out of print and rare. This book contains a selection of the songs, presented with simplified musical notation, guitar chords, and dulcimer tablature. It also includes glowing accounts of their mountain adventures, published by Josephine and Howard in long-forgotten publications; a must for all lovers of American folk music.

Vocal - Beginning - Digital Download SKU: M0.30856EB Christian. Woodwinds. E-book. 37 pages. Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music #30856EB. Published by Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music (M0.30856EB). ISBN 9781513470801. 8.75x11.75 inches. With this collection of 26 folk hymns, author Peter Irvine brings shape-note music into the home, and provides adaptable music for a variety of instrumental ensembles. This format allows for instruments such as the mountain dulcimer, Native American or transverse flute, penny whistle, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, and so forth. Anyone can play shape-note music, even when Sacred Harp gatherings or “singings” are not easily accessible. The hymns in this collection are drawn from various classic shape-note sources like Southern Harmony (1835) and The Sacred Harp (1844). Presented in lead-sheet format (melody, chords, and lyrics), and written in keys accessible to all C instruments and several D instruments such as the penny whistle and mountain dulcimer, the material offers plenty of arrangements. Hymns can be sung by a soloist, in unison by a small group with chordal accompaniment, or a mixed ensemble.

Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.891194 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Laurie Betts Hughes. A Cappella,Contemporary,Folk,Traditional. Octavo. 6 pages. Dandelion Music Press #3103603. Published by Dandelion Music Press (A0.891194). Movement two of four Cowboy Songs of the American SouthwestThis fun-to sing TTBB a cappella concert arrangement set of regional folksongs are evocative of barbershop, concert, and a cappella styles and utilize some fun extended techniques in the second movement.  Also appropriate for a versatile barbershop or men's quartet, upper HS level or above. These four cowboy songs that make up the song cycle Cowboy Songs of the American Southwest are among the nearly 3,000 field recordings recorded in the U.S. Southwest, Mexico and Spain collected by John Donald Robb over 40 year while at the University of New Mexico.  These recordings preserve many of the musical traditions of these areas, especially New Mexico and Southern Colorado, and include Native American, Hispano, Mexican and African American music, as well as railroad and cowboy songs, fiddle music and the music of festivals and fiestas.I.  The Call of the Range- Evocative of a carefree, lone cowboy singing while strumming his ukulele.  Barbershop harmonies, similar to ukulele harmonies, suggest a personification of both the ukulele and the rangeland itself as a character in the unfolding drama of the seemingly solitary cowboy.II. I'm Sad and I'm Lonely- Whispered syllables and whistles evoke percussion and a bowed saw in this despondent tale of unrequited love and solitude.III. Wild Horse of the Desert- The melody fights with the downbeat to mimic the wild horse fighting against land rights and fencing.IV. When Cockle Shells Turn Silver Bells- An overly carefree, lighthearted shrug at lost love to embrace the lone cowboy lifestyle.Due to current restrictions of the John Donald Robb field recordings housed at the University of New Mexico, movements I.
