Composed by John Philip Sousa. Arranged by Paul Taylor. 19th Century,March,Patriotic,Traditional. Score. 2 pages. Paul Taylor #1040229. Published by Paul Taylor (A0.1461482).

This is a rousing March for piano solo arranged from a couple of strains of Sousa's Semper Fidelus. There is suggested phrasing as well as one instance of fingering (instructing the player to strike adjacent white keys with the left hand thumb). Otherwise the players are left to themselves to supply the fingering:)This tune (trans. as Always loyal) is the official them of the United States Marine Corps. Prior to this the phrase always loyal, was used by countless houses and governments all over the world signifying the unity of their respective governments.

Composed by Vidas Pinkevicius. Christian,Contemporary,Sacred. Score. 8 pages. Vidas Pinkevicius #3540609. Published by Vidas Pinkevicius (A0.909270).

In the fall of 2013 my friend and colleague, Paulius Grigonis who is the organist at St Joseph church here in Vilnius was preparing to play a recital at Vilnius Cathedral around Christmas time. He approached me asking for advice about the pieces he could be playing.

I offered him to compose a set of 6 variations on the famous Christmas tune Adeste fideles and he agreed too much hesitation (too bad).

I started working on the composition but got stuck at the end of the 5th variation. I used major and minor chords only. My goal was to create something colorful and modern and yet understandable to the listener.

Because of these simple chords the harmonies are very clear and transparent. What makes it sound modern though is that I avoid traditional chordal progressions of the perfect fourth and perfect fifth. This would imply tonic-dominant, dominant-tonic, tonic-subdominant, subdominant-tonic relationship.

But I didn't want this. I wanted to surprise my audience and my friend Paulius. So I chose all kinds of progressions - minor and major seconds, minor and major thirds, even a tritone to keep it fresh.

However, the result was too difficult to play for Paulius on a short notice and I got side-tracked with other projects. Although the idea of completing the variations never left me.

So last weekend I sat down and added the last variation with a CODA.

I hope you'll enjoy this piece which is dedicated to Paulius.

Composed by John IV, John Reading, and John Wade. Arranged by Javier Martínez Maya. Children,Christmas,Classical,Concert,Standards. Score and parts. 8 pages. Arte Nova Music Lab #2150649. Published by Arte Nova Music Lab (A0.742369).

O Come, All Ye Faithful (originally written in Latin as Adeste Fideles) is a Christmas carol which has been attributed to various authors, including John Francis Wade (1711–1786), with the earliest copies of the hymn all bearing his signature, John Reading (1645–1692) and King John IV of Portugal (1604–1656).[1][2][3]

The original four verses of the hymn were extended to a total of eight, and these have been translated into many languages. The English translation of O Come, All Ye Faithful by the English Catholic priest Frederick Oakeley, written in 1841, is widespread in most English speaking countries.[2][4] The present harmonisation is from the English Hymnal (1906).[2]. Taken from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O_Come,_All_Ye_Faithful

An original manuscript of the oldest known version, dating from 1751, is held by Stonyhurst College in Lancashire.[5]

Composed by Charles Ives. Arranged by Marc Williams. 19th Century,Christmas. 18 pages. Gordon Cherry #879828. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.1288982).

In 1897 Charles Ives adapted the Traditional Christmas Carol Adeste Fidelis as a Prelude for Organ. He suggests a solo instrument to play the melody line and also mentions in his notes that there should be a mood of distant sounds from a Sabbath horizon.

Marc Williams has beautifully arranged this unique sounding adaptation of the traditional carol (Ives is up to his old tricks with lots of dissonance, plus turning the melody upside down) for 10-part Trombone Choir of advanced intermediate level.

Composed by Franz Liszt. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Christian,Christmas,Romantic Period,Sacred. 19 pages. RayThompsonMusic #3371795. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553634).

Weihnachtsbaum (English: Christmas Tree; French: Arbre de Noel) is a suite of 12 pieces written by Franz Liszt in 1873–76, with revisions in 1881.

The suite exists in versions for solo piano and piano four-hands.

Weihnachtsbaum does not demand great virtuosity, and it has been described as a distant relation of Schumann’s Kinderszenen and Debussy’s Children’s Corner. It occupies an unusual place in Liszt’s output, and it may be for these reasons that it has received relatively little attention from performers. Liszt dedicated Weihnachtsbaum to his first grandchild Daniela von Bülow (1860-1940; daughter of Cosima and Hans von Bülow). Daniela had accompanied her grandfather to Rome due to his frail condition.

The first performance was on Christmas Day 1881 in Daniela’s Rome hotel room. This was the day on which her mother Cosima always celebrated her birthday, although she was actually born on Christmas Eve.

This is No 4. Adeste Fideles (O come all ye Faithful)

Arranged for wind dectet: a somewhat different version than the usual carol. with additional instruments (clarinet and bass clarinet  as optional alternatives for one of the oboes and one of the bassoons.
