Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1438470 By Graham Hamilton. By Graham Hamilton. 21st Century,Classical,Contest,Festival,Historic,Medieval. 93 pages. Hambone Music #1018489. Published by Hambone Music (A0.1438470). A beautiful slow melody in 4/4 followed by a rousing 6/4 trek with fanfares then returning to the slow melody in 4/4. Not overly difficult but players should be around Grade 5 (ABRSM) and intermediate level concert bands, school bands and symphonic wind ensembles should manage it easily. Inspired by an old ruined church in my town called the 'Cross Kirk' during the times of the Cromwellian invasion of Scotland.Part 1 It is around the year 1650. A novice monk awakes from his slumber to the echoes of prayers and holy chanting coming through the cloisters. After he rises, he readies the oxen for a trek down the St. Andrews Road to the nearby satellite site of the priory - the site of the modern day St Andrew's cemetery.Part 2  It is an arduous trek over a muddy, rocky, unprepared track with heavy carts, with oxen straining to pull the load. They stop for a breather (3:09) and the impressive vistas are observed and the flag at 'Auld Neidpath' is just visible, reflected in the noble theme between the arduous oxen trekking theme.Part 3 The caravan starts to speed up; the oxen being startled by the sounds of fanfare trumpets coming from behind - a brave group of knights have broken through English lines and speed towards Neidpath to reinforce the besieged occupants. As they pass the wagon train, the fanfares get louder until the party reach the head of the train where the lead Knight halts to show piety to the Hieromonk who blesses him and his knights. The novice looks on awe-inspired at the brave knights, with noble faces, resplendent in shining armour, with banners flapping in the wind.  No time to stop! The knights remount and continue on, the fanfares trailing off into the distance. The wagon train slows down having reached its destination.Part 4  The novice is back at the priory, reflecting on seeing knights for the first time (receiving their blessing); their nobility and bravery impressed upon him and retires to his cell for the evening, the evening prayers and chants again echoing through the cloisters . As he closes his eyes, his mind returns to the knights and a smile crosses his face as he gently drifts off to sleep, as the final bell of the day tolls.

Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.870387 Composed by Randy A. Steinberg. Contemporary,Folk. Score and parts. 181 pages. Randy A. Steinberg #1932601. Published by Randy A. Steinberg (A0.870387). This work commemorates the founding and settlement of the western United States. The piece consists of a number of musical episodes that evoke key historic milestones that took place as the west developed and grew over time. The work opens with a fanfare tribute to the mountains and valleys that were first seen by those arriving there. The fanfare starts out majestically and leads into a chorale tune that evokes the calmness of the river and the greenery around it. The clock then moves to a later time when the area was settled by bands of Indian tribes, dwellings and villages. This then melds into tribal life along the river and growth of the Indian culture. Suddenly, the sound of Indian raiding tribes is heard. This then settles down and Pioneer Wagon Trains are heard heading west, their wheels stumbling through mud and rock. In comes the U.S. Calvary. Trumpet calls are heard as the Calvary advances and eventually overcome the Indians, pushing them out of the west. The choral tune heard earlier is brought back which then leads to the sounds of the first trains heading west. As more and more trains arrive, the sound of towns and cities sprouting up is heard. At this point, the music gains momentum as more and more settlers arrive. Dance hall music can suddenly be heard followed by a segment that evokes the building of farms and raising of livestock. The music picks up into the 20th century culminating in a grand return of the opening River Valley fanfare heard at the start of the piece. A popular piece that resonates well with audiences bringing them a spirit of renewal and hope that they will find most uplifting.

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1316382 Composed by Bob Dylan and Ketch Secor. Arranged by Sarah Cellobat Chaffee. Contemporary,Country,Folk,Pop,Rock. 28 pages. Sarah Cellobat Chaffee #905126. Published by Sarah Cellobat Chaffee (A0.1316382). Some songs are born great -- others take 30 years to come together! The chorus of the widely beloved hit bluegrass song Wagon Wheel was originally recorded as a Bob Dylan bootleg in 1973. After hearing this recording, Ketch Secor of the band Old Crow Medicine Show wrote new verses in 2003 and used Dylan's melody to create a full-blown country song. And the rest is history! Wagon Wheel has since been certified platinum and covered by a number of other notable artists, and has even been called the Free Bird of the new generation -- so you can't go wrong adding this one to your gig books! Featuring the catchy choruses, danceable feel, and country fiddle interludes of the original, this Cellobat chart for your string quartet is sure to get your audience singing along. Overall, this is an intermediate-level arrangement, but I'm rating it advanced-intermediate for some tricky rhythms and high notes (up to 4th position) in the violin parts; this will be learnable for students and sightreadable for professionals.Sarah “Cellobat†Chaffee is an in-demand acoustic & electric cellist and string arranger. Currently, she performs with legendary rock band Aerosmith in their “Deuces Are Wild†residency show, and she is the principal cellist for the Raiders House Band, playing for a crowd of 60,000 at all of the team's home games. She also plays with many other groups including Premiere Wedding Music, Bella Electric Strings, the Femmes Of Rock, and David Perrico’s Pop Strings Orchestra. Sarah has performed and recorded with numerous other artists including Disturbed, Mötley Crüe, Celine Dion, Halsey, Michael Bublé, Sarah Brightman, and Lady A. She is the exclusive arranger for a number of award-winning wedding and event companies all across the United States, including Premiere Wedding Music, Las Vegas Music Oasis, and Impulse Strings, and she has created custom arrangements for many other ensembles all over the world. Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1126984 By Anne Shelton. By Irving Aaronson and Paul Francis Webster. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. 19th Century,Film/TV,Instructional,Opera,Standards. Octavo. 11 pages. Scott S. Stewart #727620. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.1126984). “The Loveliest Night of the Year†was first published in 1888 by the Mexican composer and violinist, Juventino P. Rosas, originally titled “Sobre las olas†(Over the Waves). Generations grew up hearing this tune played on (perhaps) a WurliTzer 153 Band Wagon that accompanied their carousel ride in many a fairground on a sunny afternoon. In 1950 the music was adapted by Irving Aaronson and Paul Francis Webster and featured in the MGM biographical film “The Great Carusoâ€. It was later recorded by Mario Lanza, thus making it an ‘Italian-American favorite’. This arrangement is scored for 4-part SATB ensemble with piano accompaniment. Performance time: 3:00+- This tune is an excellent opening number for an outdoor summer’s evening community engagement concert, or the theme song for a concert about opera and/or opera singers, or a performance about opera’s connection to it’s sister art form – film.

Concert Band - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.517769 Composed by Brian M. Leonard. Contest,Festival. Score and parts. 38 pages. Brian Leonard #128488. Published by Brian Leonard (A0.517769). On a sunny summer day, a young girl loads up her wagon with all her favorite toys and dolls and sets out for a trip around the neighborhood. This playful piece takes us through her journey! Listen for the sounds of all of the little obstacles she encounters along the way: bumps in the sidewalk (grace notes, flams), up and down the ramps (glissando), tiredly climbing the hills and racing down the other side (ritardando and accelerando), and when she gets to that corner by the busy street, watch out for traffic! Optional divisi in parts give the conductor flexibility to accommodate a variety of skill levels or create harmonies as desired. Enjoy as a fun piece for any young band concert!
