Fourteen pieces for organ, dedicated to a “beloved friend, Fr. Teodoras Brazys,� presents the largest collection of works for this instrument in Naujalis’ oeuvre. Like Naujalis, Brazys was the graduate of the Church Music School in Regensburg. These fourteen preludes for organ appear to be written in expression of deep affinity and gratitude to a like-minded friend who shared similar values. Some of Naujalis’ organ preludes have been included in music collections abroad – by Mieczysław Surzyński in Warsaw and Joseph Joubert in Paris. Juozas Naujalis (1869–1934) – Lithuanian composer and organist. In 1892, he was appointed organist and choir leader at the Kaunas Cathedral, a position he held until his death. Naujalis became actively involved in organizing local musical societies and institutions. As an outcome of his groundbreaking work, a number of important private entities, such as the first boys’ choir in Lithuania based at the Archcathedral Basilica in Kaunas, courses and the school for organists (1911), the first legal Lithuanian bookshop and music publishing house in Kaunas (1905–1912), the first music magazine Vargonininkas (The Organist) and calendars for organists published in Lithuanian (1909–1910), and the music school in Kaunas (1919), have been launched. In 1908, he founded the Children Society and St. Gregory Society for Organists, which was later reorganised into St. Cecilia Society for church musicians (1924). Naujalis was also the first Lithuanian composer to achieve recognition abroad. His church music was published in Regensburg, Warsaw, St. Petersburg, Leipzig and Paris. In recognition of his merits in the field of church music he was made Commander of the Order of the Crown of Italy in Rome, in 1929.A total of 29 organ pieces by Naujalis were recorded at the Archcathedral Basilica in Kaunas in 2019.

They also performed the piece on their pre-Christmas tour, using just organ for accompaniment.The setting may be performed effectively with piano or organ accompaniment, but the orchestral score and parts may be obtained from Swirly Music (ref. The oratorio itself (The Poohratorio, composed in 1977) has not yet been published here due to copyright on the works of A A Milne, but the melodies are entirely mine. You may be able to guess some of the characters whose leitmotifs in the oratorio are used in this setting. In particular, the lesser doxology (Glory be to the Father) makes great use the theme of Eeyore, the complaining donkey. The sound sample is performed by Matthew Curtis of choraltracks.com.

Published by jmsgu3 (A0.551802). Beethoven's Three Equali, WoO 30, are three short trombone pieces. They were composed in honor of All Souls' Day and gained historical significance when they were performed at Beethoven's funeral and the dedication of his tombstone. The pieces are notable for being written for four trombones, a relatively uncommon ensemble, and have become a staple of the modern trombone repertoire. The Three Equali were first performed at Linz Cathedral on November 2, 1812, and two of them were played at Beethoven's funeral on March 29, 1827, alternating with choral arrangements by Ignaz Seyfried. The pieces are significant due to their historical associations and unique instrumentation.

Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1296267). This is a lively arrangement based on the traditional text but a completely new melody. It's an English Christmas carol, which dates back at least to the 17th century. The reference to three ships is thought to originate in the those that carried the purported relics of the Biblical magi to Cologne Cathedral in the 12th century.The joyful main theme is in 7/8 time and divides into 2+2+3. This is easier than it sounds because much of the piece consists of  four measures of 7/8 followed by a measure of 4/4. Singers will soon get to feel the rhythm and become familiar with this time signature. It’s scored for a fairly experienced SAA choir with keyboard accompaniment. The SAA voicing is ideal for high school or college use, where lower voices may not be available. The arrangement has really been conceived for boy-choir or girl-choir. In the reflective middle section, there are opportunities for solos, though they are optional. Audiences and singers alike are sure to enjoy this joyful music. The keyboard part is fairly straightforward though requires a competent pianist. It would be a great addition to your Christmas concert or service. (Duration: 03.00)Voice ranges are well within normal high school range: Soprano 1: C4-F5; Soprano 2: A3 - D5; Alto: G3- D5.
