The best way to learn any instrument is to have lessons from a good, experienced teacher. Although, happily, the number of such teachers is constantly growing, the recorder is still frequently taught by enthusiastic but inexperienced teachers and many players start by teaching themselves. This series of books sets out to help learners of all ages in all three situations. Experienced teachers, who may choose to disregard much of the text as personal demonstration is always clearer than the written word, will find exercises and fine tunes a-plenty to support their own mathod at each stage. The less experienced willbenefit from many valuable teaching hints culled from long experience and may rely on the books to lead to a sound playing technique and a mastery of simple notation. Those learning by themseves - and I started in this way - are urged to work carefully and systematically through the books, taking plenty of time to assimilate each point before moving on. For them, without the personal model provided by a live teacher, it is vitally important to listen as often as possible to fine players, in person or on record, so that they have in their mind's ear a clear notion of the kind of sound they would like to produce. But however they start, I can only wish that all who use these books will derive as much pleasure and musical satisfaction and gain as many lasting and valued friendships as I have through this most subtle, delightful and sociable of instruments. (Brian Bonsor) ā€œ...this work is likely to become a standart work very quickly and is to be recommended to all schools where recorder studies are undertakenā€œ (Oliver James, Contact Magazine) These two tutors, with accompanying teacher's books, are for newcomers to the instrument who are beginning on the treble and so assume no previous knowledge either of the instrument or of musical notation.

Composed by Montenegrin folk song. Arranged by Keith Terrett. 20th Century,Multicultural,Patriotic,Praise & Worship,Traditional,World. 27 pages. Keith Terrett #5205655. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.746971).

The National Anthem of Montenegro arranged for Symphony Orchestra. There are versions for Brass Quintet & String Orchestra in my on-line stores.

Oj, svijetla majska zoro (Montenegrin Cyrillic: ā€žŠžŃ˜, сŠ²ŠøјŠµŃ‚Š»Š° Š¼Š°Ń˜ŃŠŗŠ° Š·Š¾Ń€Š¾, trans. Oh, Bright Dawn of May) is the official National anthem of Montenegro adopted in 2004. Before becoming the anthem, it was a popular folk song of the Montenegrins, with many variations of its text. The oldest one is dated to the 2nd half of the 19th century, known as Oh, Bright Dawn of Heroism, oh!, a popular Montenegrin folk song.

It was played in public for the first time in 1863 in the national theater in Belgrade. It was a component song of the Battle of Grahovo or blood feud in Montenegro (Š‘Š¾Ń˜ Š½Š° Š“Ń€Š°Ń…Š¾Š²Ńƒ ŠøŠ»Šø ŠŗрŠ²Š½Š° Š¾ŃŠ²ŠµŃ‚Š° у Š¦Ń€Š½Š¾Ń˜ Š“Š¾Ń€Šø) heroic play in three parts. It is unknown if the textā€™s authors are also the playā€™s, namely the following Montenegrin composer/writers: the father of Marko Car Jovan Car and an unknown Obrad Vitković. The play and the Montenegrin folk song was also played/sung in the National Theater again in 1870 and 1876. Its first record in Montenegro itself dates to 1887, when it was included into the regular school program of Montenegrin national songs for pupils in the 3rd grade. It was reconfirmed in the teacherā€™s plan for Montenegrin schools of 1888, which speculates that it must have been an established folk song for decades by then.

Sekule Drljević, party strongman of a minor political party which was active in the Yugoslavian Kingdom in Montenegro known as the Montenegrin Federalist Party, rewrote the text and published it in 1937 in the book of thenā€™s Croatian writer of Montenegrin origins Savić Marković Å tedimlija known as Crvena Hrvatska (Red Croatia), which confounded the thesis not of a Serb ethnic origin of the Montenegrins, which was the dominant one back then, but rather from the Croats. Its name was Eternal Oursā€¦ (Vječna naÅ”a). When Nikola Hercigonja wrote down Oh, Bright Dawn of May shortly after WWII ended after 1945, he erroneously concluded that Drljević was the original wholesale author of this song, which also led to its considerable decline in popularity as a Montenegrin folk song altogether.

The song survived until today under various names as a popular Montenegrin folk song under the name Oh, Bright Dawn of May (Oj svijetla majska zoro). This version of the song has been one of the several versions proposed in 1993 during the first discussion on the official anthem, however, on which there was no consensus because of the disputed melodic value.

Composed by Joe Procopio. Dance,Jazz,Pop. Score and parts. 24 pages. JoeCopio Music LLC #53323. Published by JoeCopio Music LLC (A0.876447).

LILLYā€™S DANCE (THE TUMBLER) Back to School 2015 From PAPAā€™S FAMOUS DANCES by Joe Procopio LILLYā€™S DANCE (THE TUMBLER) is a delightful Latin flavored dance that was inspired by Little Miss Lilly who could tumble on command all by her big self when she was only 15 months old. When I first saw her dance and tumble at such a young age, I was so moved that I wrote this piece to celebrate her ability to amaze everyone with her dancing and tumbling. LILLYā€™S DANCE (THE TUMBLER) was originally written and arranged for a small ensemble, band, stage band or combo with flexible instrumentation so that it may be performed with only two Saxophones (Alto Sax I and Alto Sax II) and a standard backup with Piano/Keyboard, Guitar, Bass and Drums. In addition, any combo may be augmented by adding any or all of the parts included for Flute, Clarinet, Tenor Sax, and Baritone Sax. This flexible or variable instrumentation of LILLYā€™S DANCE (THE TUMBLER) makes it unique and perfect for schools and colleges that do not have a permanent roster of music students entering their music programs annually. It also eases the burden for Directors searching for good music to perform for groups with ever changing numbers of music students. Whatā€™s more, LILLYā€™S DANCE (THE TUMBLER) has a section open for solos to enable the ensemble to feature players who can improvise well enhancing not only the groupā€™s enjoyment but also everyoneā€™s listening pleasure. This piece is composed in the same style of the other dances in the set - all of which have been performed by College and High School students in many major concert events along the East Coast with great success. It is published separately and in a set entitled PAPAā€™S FAMOUS DANCES PART 1 from the sets PAPAā€™S FAMOUS DANCES Part I and Part II. Each Part contains 3 Dances. I have adapted the audio here for synthesizer so that it may be previewed. It is one of 6 works named and dedicated to each of my 6 Grandchildren: Lilly, Mary, Lydia, Emma, Joey and Wilson. Instrumentation for LILLYā€™S DANCE (THE TUMBLER) includes SCORE and parts for: ALTO SAX I ALTO SAX II TENOR SAX BARITONE SAX FLUTE CLARINET PIANO/KEYBOARD - GUITAR - BASS - DRUMS VITA Joe Procopio is a master musician and teacher with proven success for over 50 years. His purpose in teaching, writing music and books is to make his successful method of making musicians available to as many people as possible around the world. While I cannot guarantee that my methods will make you a great musician as they have for many others, says Procopio, I can say that they are designed to magnify your love of music - and that I guarantee each will enrich and enhance your life. People from all over the world have written to me to tell me so. As a Master Musician , Joe Procopio is an ASCAP Artist, composer, conductor and professional musician. He was the Lead Reed for many of the nation's top recording artists including: The Temptations, Steve and Eydie Gorme, Aretha Franklin, Tony Bennett, Lawrence Welk, Frankie Avalon, Frankie Laine, Jack Jones, Kathryn Grayson, Carmel Quinn, Don Cornell, Bobby Rydell, Vic Damone, Rodney Dangerfield, Foster Brooks, The Vagabonds, The Ritz Brothers, Sammy Cohn, Jimmy Van Heusen, Tiny Tim, Al Martino, Petula Clark, Wayne Newton, Pat Cooper, The Four Tops, The Spinners, etc. Lead Alto Sax Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra and the Palace Theater Myrtle Beach, SC He is listed in The Encyclopedia of Saxophone Music Londeix, Roncorp Pub. Melody: Conjunct and Disjunct - Perform, Compose, Understand Series. This pack comprises a piece called Mind The Gap, worksheets and questions which relate to the piece. It is all about understanding melodic movement and direction.

Welcome to the PCU Series for classroom-based groups. This series focuses on learning by doing; there are many accomplished performers within our school classrooms throughout the world, but my years of experience has taught me that many of these students learn to play by rote ā€“ literally be learning one note followed by another ā€“ without gaining full understanding of how the pieces work musically and theoretically. Indeed, some of them can perform to a high standard using this method, but then really struggle with composition and general musical understanding later in their educational careers.

I equate this to learning to speak sentences in a foreign language without fully understanding what those sentences actually mean.

So who is this book for?

It is for music teachers to use with their students who are learning to create exam-level compositions within a school environment. It is ideal for courses such as the American High School Diploma, GCSE, IGCSE, SCS, HKCEE, IB(MYP), SPM, GCEO, CCEF, HKCEE, VSSD, GES or ICSE.

It is designed to cater for almost any instrument due to the parts being provided in many different keys and clefs (including tab and bass tab). Drum parts are intentionally not provided as drummers still need to have a good understanding of non-percussive elements such as melody and harmony; I would suggest that they play a keyboard part for the purposes of learning about composition.

You can also download backing tracks of all pieces in this series by searching:

Classroom Performance educational pack: MELODY backing tracks

These contain parts 2-5, allowing part 1 to be played live over the top.

How to use this resource

This pack comprises three stages, the third of which should be gained from success with the first two:

1. Performing

An original performance piece is provided for mixed classroom ensemble. This piece features a musical device of some kind as its focus. There will obviously be other musical components included within the piece as well, but the main element will be very apparent.

2. Composing

Worksheets are provided to enable students to develop their own compositions based on the same focus as the performance piece. Elements of the performance piece are highlighted and short, developmental activities will lead to the students developing their own musical ideas.

3. Understanding

Summary worksheets are provided to enable students to demonstrate their understanding of the topic.

There are two musical elements which appear in all pieces within this PCU series. They are dynamics and articulation. All performance pieces contain them and opportunity is provided to include them within the composing exercises as well.
