Searching for an instrument which should fulfill the need for deep, powerful and at the same time sonorous flute tones, the ingenious flute maker Theobald Böhm created the first alto flute in 1858. Literature was needed for the new instrument, and therefore Böhm arranged the pieces mentioned above (originally, the Rossini pieces are meant for 2 voices and piano, Weber op. 3 was written for piano for four hands). Alternatively, the alto flute part can also be played by the violin, English horn or clarinet. The corresponding parts are also included.

Flute - advanced - Digital Download

SKU: S9.Q4783

Composed by Theobald Boehm. This edition: Sheet music. Flute - Il Flauto traverso - tone formation. Il Flauto traverso. Downloadable. Op. 26. Schott Music - Digital #Q4783. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q4783).

These 24 Studies were specifically written by Boehm from his intimate knowledge of the new flute which was constructed by and named after him. Their purpose was not only to demonstrate that all the 24 keys could be played reliably and smoothly, but also to provide technical exercises precisely in those areas where particular practice was necessary. This primary purpose, which also embraces the development of a good tone, is realised in different musical miniatures (caprices) which demand from the player a well-shaped, musical interpretation.

Small Ensemble Alto Recorder,Baritone Recorder,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.842578

Composed by H.E. Klose. Arranged by Barbara Brennan. Concert,Graduation,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 22 pages. Bl_music #6672429. Published by bl_music (A0.842578).

Hyacinthe Eléonore Klosé (11 October 1808 – 29 August 1880) was a French clarinet player, professor at the Conservatoire de Paris, and composer. Klosé was also noted for his design improvements to the clarinet using the principles laid down by Theobald Boehm in his innovative work on the flute keywork.

His Air Varie has become a favourite for clarinet and another unexpected contender: the ophicleide! The introduction, theme and 3 variations, followed by a rond are so charming and highly suitable for Treble or Bass recorders that – having performed the piece on the ophicleide ourselves- we felt this edition could make a great concert piece and addition to the repertoire for recorder players on the hunt for new music.

This edition includes solo parts for recorders in F in Treble and Bass clef.
