They are some of the most frequently performed and recognizable solo compositions ever written for cello. Bach most likely composed them during the period 1717–23, when he served as a Kapellmeister in Köthen. The title of the Anna Magdalena Bach manuscript was Suites à Violoncello Solo senza Basso. Now in the 21st century, this piece comes alive once again. Arranged for 2 cellos, each cello is playing the same piece in 2 different keys simultaneously(C Major and G Major).
