Cello Duet Cello - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1156756 Composed by Johann Justus Friedrich Dotzauer. Arranged by Michele Galvagno. 19th Century,Chamber,Instructional,Romantic Period,Traditional. Score. 44 pages. Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele #757087. Published by Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele (A0.1156756). The Russian Air with Twenty Variations for Cello Solo, accompanied by a Second Cello, Op. 32, by J. J. F. Dotzauer (1783—1860), was composed and published around 1815. It is one of the many set of variations written upon the theme “Їхав козак за Дунай†(“The Cossack rode beyond the Danubeâ€) during the second decade of the XIX century, others including those by Beethoven and Hummel. Despite the title, the theme is of Ukrainian origin but, at the time of its diffusion in Europe, under a German disguise, the region that is now Ukraine was part of the Russian Empire. The language of the text makes its origin unmistakable today. After a fascinating slow Introduction, the theme comes and is followed by twenty variations, most of which requiring great virtuosity. This is a concert piece, lasting anywhere between 14 and 24 minutes according to whether repeats will be played or not. An outstanding variety of techniques is employed, making this a true challenge for even the most gifted players. This edition is based on the oldest surviving source, the first edition by Friedrich Hofmeister. It corrects the most glaring mistakes, and adds notes where ambiguity arises. This edition is dedicated to Yuriy Leonovich.

Cellos - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1109067 Composed by Johann Justus Friedrich Dotzauer. Arranged by Michele Galvagno. 19th Century,Chamber,Children,Instructional,Romantic Period. Educational Exercises. 64 pages. Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele #711611. Published by Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele (A0.1109067). The Twelve Pieces for Two Cellos, containing National Songs & Fugues, Op. 156 by J. J. F. Dotzauer (1783—1860) are possibly the most enjoyable duet collection of the five. Six pieces are fugues, and six are national airs, masterfully arranged for two cellos. Among them we even find the French national anthem, labelled “La Marseillaise ou la Caramagnoleâ€, whose story I had a lot of fun unearthing. All duets are written in bass clef, even if one of them goes up to the sixth position. They are perfect for student concerts or just for learning a few beautiful popular songs, all while travelling the world. From Ireland to Boemia, from France to Scotland, it will be an unforgettable journey! This edition is offered in two versions, Original & Collector’s Edition. The Original version is available in either of the following variants: score only, parts only, and score & parts. It is based on the first edition published by Dotzauer at Breitkopf & Härtel in 1839. The Collector’s Edition adds the new edition of these pieces appeared in the 1890s under the revision of Carl Hüllweck (1852—1910), as well as the first duet as it appears in the 57 Little Duets compiled by Johannes Klingenberg (1852—1905). Cellos - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1125668 Composed by Johann Justus Friedrich Dotzauer. Arranged by Michele Galvagno. 19th Century,Children,Instructional,Opera,Romantic Period. Educational Exercises. 66 pages. Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele #726403. Published by Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele (A0.1125668). The Twelve Original Pieces for Two Cellos, dedicated to beginners, Op. 63, by J. J. F. Dotzauer (1783—1860) is a most colourful collection, containing a spicy mix of arias from famous operas, original themes, and fugues. The arias are mostly from W. A. Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito, and G. Rossini’s Tancredi, with a theme and variation from The Magic Flute crowning them all. Even without employing the thumb, these pieces are challenging, and should not be underestimated. They explore all seven positions, making this the most well-rounded collection of the five (Opp. 52, 58, 156, 159), and a must-have for all cello students. This edition comes in two versions, Original & Collectors’ Edition. The Original version is available in either of the following variants: score only, parts only, and score & parts. It is based on the first edition published by Dotzauer at Breitkopf & Härtel in 1823. The Collector’s Edition adds the new edition of these pieces appeared in the 57 Little Duets compiled by Johannes Klingenberg (1852—1905), and in the early XX century edition by Alwin Schöder (1855—1928).
