Cello Duet Cello - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.589293 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by David McKeown. Jewish,Wedding,World. Score. 4 pages. David McKeown #6020785. Published by David McKeown (A0.589293). Hava Nagila is a Hebrew Folk tune, often performed by Klezmer musicians. This version is arranged as a duet for two Cellos. Hava Nagila was originally a Nigun melody thought to have originated in the Ukraine. In 1918 a professor and musicologist at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Abraham Zevi Idelsohn, set the tune to words adapted from Psalm 118. Hava Nagila was first performed at celebrations at the end of the Great War and quickly spread throughout the Jewish diaspora. In the fifties and sixties, performances by singers as diverse as Harry Belafonte and Bob Dylan popularised the song far beyond its original Jewish audience. Hava Nagila remains one of the best-known and loved Klezmer standards today, traditionally performed at Jewish celebrations.Hava Nagila is simply arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. After a steady beginning, the melody gradually increases in tempo, with constant variations in the accompaniment. Hava Nagila is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above. With a performance time of around two and a half minutes, this version of Hava Nagila is perfect for celebrations, weddings and concert performances, both formal and informal. This traditional piece was composed by Jean-Philippe Rameau.  It has been arranged here for beginner orchestral string ensembles.   This piece has been changed to MINOR to give it a creepy and sad feeling.  Perfect for Halloween performances.  It is also a great instructional tool to educate kids about counterpoint/ harmony and musical structure.  It starts with both lines in unison to help students adapt to each other in a group setting. Midway through the piece breaks into a round to teach about harmony and structure.  This composition is intended for beginner orchestral string ensembles.  The score, viola 1+2, violin 1+2, can be purchased separately.  All parts contain both lines of music and can stand on their own.  (example: a group of cellos will only need this file).

Cello Duet Cello - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.588502 Composed by David McKeown. Concert,Latin,Standards,World. Score. 8 pages. David McKeown #5744015. Published by David McKeown (A0.588502). Merengue de Merlín is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for two Cellos. This duet is based on the traditional Latin style of Merengue that emerged in the Dominican Republic during the Nineteenth Century. Merengue Tipico bands maintain the traditional instrumentation of the double-headed tambora drum, güira, accordion and vocal, while urban bands in the North American diaspora often add saxophone, bass and other percussion. The Merengue dance became hugely popular in the 1950s and new forms continue to draw audiences around the world. If you play to an intermediate standard and upwards, then you and your audience will enjoy this piece. The steady quintilla tambora rhythm is present throughout, and following the precise articulation in the score will help convey the style. The main challenge is the fast tempo and melodies should be clearly articulated. Merengue de Merlín has a performance time of around two and a half minutes at full tempo. Joropo de Justina is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for two Cellos. This duet is based on the traditional Latin style of Joropo which is the national and traditional music of Venezuela. This arrangement represents the song style of Joropo, with the vocal alternating with instrumental breaks. If you play to an advanced intermediate standard and upwards, then you and your audience will enjoy this piece.
