A brief but productive period as band-leader and recording artist followed, after which Kandel retired from performing to run a music shop.Kandel’s Hora is arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. Cello Suite No 1 in G major with bowings and fingerings,after comparing the 4 surviving manuscripts and early prints in detail.Special attention is given to the 2 early scripts, which copied from Bach's original, the difficult to read copy bu Kellner and Anna Magdalena's copy.A continue part has been added, developed by accompanying students for the pure joy of playing together.The accompaniment is dedicated to Robert Schumann, who added for the same reason an accompaniment to Cello Suite No 1, but unfortunately only some sketches hav survived. The more elaborate parts to the whole Suite have unfortunately been lost. I thank Schumann for his idea to dare the step just to add an accompaniment for the pure joy of playing these wonderful movements with friends together.

David McKeown #4355089. Published by David McKeown (A0.587537). The Prince of Denmark’s March is better known nowadays as the Trumpet Voluntary and is often used in wedding ceremonies. It was in fact written for organ, with the melody played on thetrumpet stop.  Written around 1700, for many years this piece was mistakenly attributed to Henry Purcell. Only recently has it been established that the composer was Jeremiah Clarke, organist at St Paul’s Cathedral. It is somewhat ironic that this composer of a wedding mainstay was himself a victim of unrequited love. He consequently shot himself in the cathedral graveyard. This full version is arranged as a duet for two Cellos and the performance time is around two and a half minutes. Of course, performers, especially at weddings, may wish to abridge and shorten the arrangement. This is easily done as the different sections are self-contained and the repeat may be ignored. The complete performance on youtube and the short audio sample are from the Clarinet Duet version of this arrangement. Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances, with both parts enjoying melodic interest. Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with strict time, full tone and dynamics. Two versions of It’s Been a Long Long Time topped the charts in late 1945, and as US servicemen returned from Europe and the Pacific, it perfectly caught the mood of the times. One version was by Bing Crosby, and the other by the Harry James Orchestra featuring Kitty Kallen on vocals. It is the latter version that is heard in Endgame and the one that forms the basis of this arrangement.Musicians at an intermediate standard will find It’s Been a Long Long Time ideal for formal and informal concert performances. with both parts enjoying plenty of melodic interest.
