Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet - Digital Download SKU: A0.934839 By Duke Ellington. By Duke Ellington and Irving Mills. Arranged by Ben Mulholland. Jazz. Score and parts. 8 pages. Benjamin D Mulholland #4572509. Published by Benjamin D Mulholland (A0.934839). This trio arrangement of It Don't Mean a Thing, was written for a brass trio to play during a cocktail hour at a wedding. I distilled down several classic 'jazz' or 'cocktail hour' tunes and turned them into serviceable trios for Trumpet, Horn, and Trombone. Each allows each voice to share the melody and harmony duty in a way to not leave too much heavy lifting on any one player This arrangement works as a Brass Quartet (2 trumpets, horn, and trombone) as a chop saver for the trumpet players- each player trading phrases, as needed, leaving room for tutti parts for the big moments and ending. The trumpet part is provided in Bb and C for players preference, and at the suggested tempo the duration of the piece is a few seconds short of 3 minutes long.
