This begins with a 7/4 time signature in A minor. The initial passage was created to sound like an industrial region in a run-down town. The machines continue to progress until the complete building is running like a well-oiled machine, to quote a anecdote. As it continues the business runs smooth like a waltz in 3/4 time. For a moment the initial passage returns before a climax in A major. The finale concludes as the day ends with the original passage returning in 7/4 time as the business closes for the day. Perhaps one of the most frighteningly supernatural compositions in Classical Music. The climax of the opera is the confrontation between Don Giovanni (baritone) and the ghost of the Commendatore (bass). Earlier in the opera, Don Giovanni kills the Commedatore in a duel, and now the duel continues, this time in a vocal battle. Originally a duet between Don Giovanni and the Commedatore, this Brass Quintet has been reimagined with the duelists portrayed by the French Horn and Trombone. An exciting and challenging arrangement.

Brass Prelude 2 was designed to be used on those Sunday mornings when a brass quintet is available for the choir anthem, and it is desired to make maximum use of the quintet. There is a corresponding Brass Postlude 2 that goes with it. Brass Prelude 2 is modern in style and might be used on a Sunday with a more modern or aggressive choir anthem, but like all of the Preludes in this series it is designed to start worship on an uplifting note. This piece requires a more advanced quintet because of the tonal structures and the requirement for a piccolo trumpet in A.
