Brass Ensemble Euphonium,Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Digital Download SKU: A0.802701 Composed by Josef Weinberger. Arranged by arr. R Woschnjak & Peet du Toit. Contemporary. Score and parts. 13 pages. Peet du Toit #6859613. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.802701). Josef Weinberger has been synonymous with popular musical theater for over 125 years. Weinberger was born the son of a goldsmith in Lipto St. Miklo in Hungary but his family moved to Vienna in 1865. In 1885 Josef Weinberger and Carl Hofbauer started an art and music store in Vienna, but the partnership ended when both partners set up on their own, Weinberger in 1890 and Hofbauer in 1892. Weinberger saw the potential, in publishing and licensing, of the craze for operetta, and made a connection with Johann Strauss II. Within a few years all the great operetta composers were his clients: Strauss, Millöcker, Zeller, Kálmán, Oscar Straus, Stolz, and Fall. He even provided licensing services for the last great Viennese operetta composer, Franz Lehár, who from the 1920s published through his own company, Glocken-Verlag.The firm expanded quickly, opening branches in Paris (1885) and Leipzig (1889) where they worked with Friedrich Hofmeister. One of the most remarkable aspects of the developing Weinberger catalogue was the commitment to Czech music, and from April 1893 to August 1894 the Hofmeister entries were almost all by Smetana (various publications of Dalibor and HubiÄŤka as well as overtures) and VilĂ©m Blodek (V studni); later additions included Tajemstvi (1895) and  Libuše (1897). Otherwise most of the repertoire was of popular music for various combinations, not least military bands, with von SuppĂ© figuring prominently from 1895 onwards. The mid 1890s also saw significant enlargements of the Weinberger catalogue through the acquisition of other publisher's lists: in 1894 the ancient firm of Artaria, then in 1895 items from the Kratochwill catalogue and over 1,500 works from the Kratz catalogue of theatrical works. This latter acquisition included a number of works with international performing rights, which encouraged Weinberger to open a Parisian branch in 1896, but it also reflected a shift in Weinberger's publishing interests towards theatrical music generally. Another major step in that direction was taken in 1897, when the entire theatrical catalogue of Gustav Lewy â€“ which included the stage works of Johann Strauss the younger and Millöcker – were taken over (with the Strauss performing rights following in 1899).Weinberger was active in three other fields apart from popular music. Firstly, he was Gustav Mahler's third publisher, issuing the Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen in 1897, and distributing Symphonies nos 1-3, Das klagende Lied and Lieder aus des Knaben Wunderhorn (1900) on behalf of the owner of the publishing rights, the Erste Wiener Zeitungsgesellschaft. Secondly, he took an active part in setting up a trade association, AKM (Gesellschaft der Autoren, Komponisten und Musikverleger or society of authors, composers and publishers) to collect the performance fees due for non-theatrical musical works, in 1897. Finally, Weinberger was the driving force behind the founding of Universal Edition in Vienna in 1901, and not only served as its managing director until 1906 (when he was replaced by Arthur FadĂĽm), but also provided the new company with space in his own firm's premises until 1908.This orchestration is for a brass quintet. The French Horn acts as a substitute or support for Trumpet 2.

Flugelhorn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1158365 Composed by Dr. Daniel N. Thrower. 20th Century,Chamber,Children,Classical. 24 pages. The setting for brass quintet and vocalist came about in 2020 for the USAF Heartland of America Band's Offutt Brass to perform as a tribute to all the mothers and fathers who are deployed as military members to preserve the freedoms we hold dear. A tear-jerker in this light, to be sure! In normal performance settings, it is extremely heartwarming and packed with deep parental emotions. The trumpet parts call for flugelhorns to increase the warm nature of the composition.

Published by https://gildedmusicpress.com/ (A0.1158678). The opening of this 4-minute piece is dance-like, intimating a celebratory mood up front—alone at first, but shared with the ensemble throughout the piece. After much celebration, the piece ends solemnly, as if giving each other final hugs and good-byes. Every Airman has a story to tell. “Farewell Celebration” is part of my story as an Airman musician. It is a fitting farewell to the Heartland of America Band stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Nebraska, and to the entire American Midwest, as my family and I finalized our plans to uproot for an extraordinary three-year adventure in Asia. Work on this composition began toward the end of July and beginning of August 2021 as a melody with instructions to be the opening of a brass quintet piece, beginning with trumpet alone. It remained in that state until January 2022 when I entered this sketch into the computer to be worked on sporadically along with several other works in progress. When I contracted Covid-19 in July 2022, all of these works and other incipient pieces received attention, but this one more than most others. In the fall, I felt an urgency to complete it as a sentimental gesture of enthusiastic good-byes due to many life changes taking place. In particular, my fourth son, Paul, was departing for two years for Brazil. I was compelled to complete this work before he left on October 17, 2022, which I accomplished the day prior to his departure. In addition to Paul’s farewell, two co-workers with whom I had worked closely in the Air Force brass quintet called “Offutt Brass,” were also moving on with new exciting chapters in their lives. MSgt Ben Kadow, our fantastic trombonist, had received an assignment to move to Germany, leaving us on November 8. And MSgt Ryan Heseltine, our unparalleled French horn player, retired at the end of the year. On top of all that, in September I was given an assignment to move to Japan the following summer. Some farewells are more difficult to endure than others, though all seem to have varied brands of profound emotion. In contrast to saying good-bye to a loved one who passes away, all of these farewells were joyful, albeit poignant. “Farewell Celebration” is dedicated to my son Paul, to my outstanding professional colleagues, Ben Kadow and Ryan Heseltine, and to all our friends and family members who we left behind as we moved to Japan.

Brass Quintet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1489491 Composed by Dr. Daniel N. Thrower. 21st Century,Barbershop,Chamber,Classical,Multicultural,World. 20 pages. Https://gildedmusicpress.com/ #1066355. Published by https://gildedmusicpress.com/ (A0.1489491). “Rising Sun” was composed as a gesture of friendship between the two great nations of Japan and the United States of America.  As a uniformed member of the Armed Forces, mine is a unique position of being able to share such a meaningful gift in an official capacity that bears great depth and meaning far beyond similar civilian cultural exchanges. Before being assigned to Yokota Air Base in Japan, I was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska.  Part of my duties as a trumpeter in the military is to sound “Taps” as part of the full complement of a fallen hero’s military honors.  Among the most somber occasions of fulfilling that special privilege was on behalf of a WWII Seaman, Wesley Brown.  In 2021, his remains were identified and shipped home to America’s heartland after 80 years of Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941.Fast forward to August 6 and 9, 2023, shortly after I arrived at my new duty station in Japan.  On those dates in 1946, nuclear bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.  I recorded in my journal on the 9th that my walk to work was quite sobering as I realized that my presence there was a direct result of that complicated global conflict.  With significant symbolism, Pacific Brass read “Rising Sun” for the first time that day. After nearly 80 years, the post-war occupation has evolved to a thriving partnership most worthy of celebration.  This composition “Rising Sun” potently delivers a personalized celebratory gesture from an American Airman to all those communities we serve throughout the glorious “land of the rising sun.”In the music itself, one can picture a dim early dawn with the serene opening of the low brass trio.  The musical content is repeated more loudly, with brilliant trumpet interjections as the sun crests over the early horizon.  The music morphs and grows; varies and repeats, as it is intended to depict the subtly but rapidly changing beauties of an orange-filled sunrise.  At last, the colors fade and the new day has begun, with a full brightness of hope.
