There is an optional two bar link before the verse begins at bar 3. The fifteen page download includes a one page soprano descant score, five individual brass parts and a two page organ score. The brass quintet parts are more advanced in difficulty level, the soprano descant and organ parts are intermediate in difficulty level. The descant is new and fresh, and the harmonies used to support it are closely related to the familiar harmonization by Mendelssohn. The trumpet parts in particular are fanfare-like while the lower three instruments support the hymn tune and harmony. This makes it an ideal arrangement for Christmas Day. The third verse allows the sopranos to sing a new and fresh descant while the congregation and ATB members of the choir sing in unison, accompanied by the organ and 1st trumpet.  A short two-bar link passage allows the music to modulate up a key to A flat major. The beginning is active establishing a happy beginning to the piece. Then all the parts are in straight harmonies and then become fragmented. A modulation takes place allowing the lower voices to carry the tune. Then a tuba sola solo commences with light upper parts decorating the lines, until the parts fragment. This concludes with a modulation with motivic statements. After a brief intermission the piece takes off again with the tune in the lower voices and the trumpets add a flurry descants. As the piece comes to a close more and more voices add to the mix until the pieces adds a solid, grand statement.Key of Ab, Db, Eb.

Section A exposits the hymn. Section B goes into a minor key with a legubrious and funereal feeling. The first trumpet adds a phrase that is almost like a waling quality. Section B then ends on a picrady third followed by an Italian augmented sixth chord. Section C is now the newly modulated major key with a descant by yours truly added.
