Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1461304 Composed by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, and Lin-Manuel Miranda. Arranged by Will Corbin. Broadway,Children,Film/TV,Musical/Show. 14 pages. Will Corbin #1040112. Published by Will Corbin (A0.1461304). Kiss The Girl first showed up in the 1989 Disney animated film The Little Mermaid. It was nominated for both an Oscar and a Golden Globe for best song, but it lost out to both ... to Under The Sea, from the same movie. It has since appeared on Broadway (2007-8) and in 2023's live-action version of the same movie. It's a lively little piece for brass quintet, with melody chores scattered through the ensemble. This one's for a standard brass quintet; other instrumentation can easily be made available. Contact me at wilcor@aol.com.

Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1223683 By George B Chave. By Claude Debussy. Arranged by George B Chave. 20th Century,Classical. 9 pages. BrassMagicMusic.com #819834. Published by BrassMagicMusic.com (A0.1223683). This arrangement features horn on the primary melody, and generally places the work in the lower and darker registers of the other instruments.  At the climax the first trumpet climbs out of the darkness and into the bright upper register.  As the theme is recalled/remembered at the end, trumpet with harmon mute lends a nostalgic feeling.  Combined with my arrangement of General Lavine and Heather, this would make a great recital set of Debussy's music.  Buy all three Debussy Preludes as a set (including Heather, The Girl With The Flaxen Hair, and General Lavine) and save over 14%. Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1158382 Composed by Dr. Daniel N. Thrower. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical. 49 pages. Https://gildedmusicpress.com/ #758665. Published by https://gildedmusicpress.com/ (A0.1158382). Brass quintet in six short movements. Duration, approx. 8 minutes. Movement I: “Family Vacations.†Fond memories of childhood vacations as well as leading out on road trips as a father, are reflected by the excitement of this movement. Feel free to reminisce on your own family trips as you listen to or perform this movement. Movement II: “Jovial Banter.†I was going to call this movement “Roughhousing,†but that is only part of what this playful piece conjures. Besides wrestling my five boys (with my one girl amusedly watching off to the side), friendly joking with friends about rival universities, and playing harmless pranks on friends and family, all seem to be rolled up into this truly jovial movement. It has its own tricks and surprises to one who has never heard it before. Movement III: “Holiday Foods.†This waltz displays more elegance and structure than most of the other movements. It primarily elicits memories of the distinctive Thrower Christmas feasts, for which we created a unique tradition. Our yuletide banquets hail from a different country every year. Through the decades, we have discovered and adopted many international favorites that we continue to enjoy! Note the middle section of the waltz gets a bit spicy… Movement IV: “Pets.†Though as an adult I have not had the pleasure of enjoying personal pets, my youngest son developed an affinity for YouTube videos about funny cats and dogs. Nevertheless, my favorite childhood pet was “Blackie,†the splendid satin feline featured on the cover of this work. Pets are often quirky and extremely fun, as is this music. If it doesn’t put a smile on the listener’s face, someone in the line of musical communication may have failed. Movement V: “Sharing God’s Wonders.†Slow and wondrous, the music in this movement yearns to be shared. The theme, though only somewhat related to the other variations, strays to its own content after the first motivic notes. The melody is borrowed from a 2010 band composition of mine titled “Tribute to Joel Robison,†an ancestor, and a Texas hero. One passion I have enjoyed through the years is family history, truly a God-given legacy from which I draw much inspiration. Movement VI: “Personal Triumphs.†Indeed a subject to celebrate, triumphs of self-mastery, conquests over difficult tasks, and achievements of monumental goals all prompt me to break out in triumphant fanfares!

Brass Ensemble Euphonium,Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.722745 Composed by John Philip Sousa. Arranged by Jari A. Villanueva. Folk,Holiday,Patriotic,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 29 pages. JV MUSIC #3414623. Published by JV MUSIC (A0.722745). The Fairest of the Fair March for Brass Quintet and Optional DrumsBy John Philip Sousa Arranged by Jari VillanuevaScore 2 Trumpets in BbHorn in FTromboneTubaOptional DrumsSubstitute parts for Eb Horn and Baritone T.C .providedThe Fairest of the Fair (1908) by John Philip Sousa was composed for the annual Boston Food Fair of 1908 and is claimed that the memory of a pretty girl he had seen at an earlier fair inspired the composition. Sousa composed The Fairest of the Fair intending his Band to perform it at the annual Boston Food Fair in the fall of 1908. It is the only work of any kind that he composed that year and one of only a handful of compositions that he wrote between 1906 and 1910. He apparently completed it in New York during the summer, as the final page of the original score was signed John Philip Sousa, Camp Comfort, Saranac Lake, Adirondack, New York, July 8, 1908.The march almost missed its premier at the Boston Food Fair. Because of an oversight the music, which Sousa had written and scored out, did not have individual parts written out for the performers. This was discovered the day before the performance. The new composition had received much advanced publicity and it would have been an embarrassment to Sousa not to have it performed. The band’s copyist, Louis Morris, rose to the occasion and on the train to Boston stayed up and copied out the parts so the band could premier the work as advertised on September 28, 1908. In the morning when Sousa found out Morris was working all night he instructed him to finish the work and get some rest. Morris missed the concert and the premier but found an extra $50 in his next paycheck.Published by JV MUSIC Baltimore MD www.jvmusic.net https://youtu.be/KeE5dMnrevU

Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1251231 Composed by Gus Kahn, Ernie Erdman and Dan Russo. Arranged by F. Leslie Smith. 20th Century,Comedy,Pop,Standards,Traditional. 37 pages. Sweetwater Brass Press #845507. Published by Sweetwater Brass Press (A0.1251231). This song starts with the narrator/lyricist saying that he overheard a guy at the train station trying to say farewell to his girl.  The guy would kiss her, bid her adieu, get on the train, then get off and do the whole thing over again.  And, he did this seven times!  What would he say to her each time?  He’d tell her that he’s leaving, that she shouldn’t cry, that he’ll write and that if she does not hear from him she should assume he’s been arrested.  What a romantic line!     Anyway, that’s the gist of the “Toot, Toot, Tootsie!†lyrics.  Credited to Gus Kahn, Ernie Erdman and Dan Russo, New York City’s Leo Feist, Inc. first published this upbeat, leave-taking song in 1922.  It had been one of 29 numbers featured in the 1921 Broadway production Bombo, a vehicle designed to showcase the talent of Al Jolson.  Six years later Jolson sang it in The Jazz Singer, generally recognized as the first sound feature film.  Additionally, all three composers, plus Ted Fio Rito and Eddie Cantor, also made early and very popular recordings.    This bubbly, cheerful arrangement opens in the key of F major with a suggested tempo of 120 BPM.  After an 8-measure introduction, the piece goes right to the familiar chorus with Trumpet 1 and Trombone switching leads and ending with a wonderful Fillmore-style smear.  The tempo then slows dramatically for a somewhat pensive interpretation of the verse, the narrator’s observations, Horn and Trumpet 1 alternating the lead.  At measure 67 the chorus repeats faster than ever, a recommended 132 BPM, as Trombone and the two Trumpets take turns with the melody.  This leads right into a repeat of the verse—this time played at full speed—and a change of key to D-flat major.  Trombone and Tuba play in unison, exchanging the melody with Trumpets, right on into the third go-round of the chorus.  The piece wraps up with a vaudeville-style conclusion and eventually fades away.  (But don’t miss Trombone's four-measure reference to “Charlottetown Is Burning Down/Goodbye, Liza Jane†at measure 141.)Lots of fun!    Completed in 2023, performance time at the suggested tempo runs about 2 minutes, 47 seconds. The arranger, Les Smith, will be happy to provide substitute parts (for example, treble clef baritone for trombone) at no charge.  He would like to receive your suggestions, comments, corrections and criticisms.  For more arrangements by Les, enter Sweetwater Brass Press (without the quotation marks) in the Sheet Music Plus or Sheet Music Direct search box.

Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1404796 By Neil Diamond. By Bob Russell and Bobby Scott. Arranged by Peet du Toit. Rock. 14 pages. Peet du Toit #987859. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.1404796). James Wells, Moderator of the United Free Church of Scotland, tells the story of a little girl carrying a big baby boy in his 1884 book The Parables of Jesus. Seeing her struggling, someone asked if she wasn't tired. With surprise she replied: No, he's not heavy; he's my brother. He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother is a ballad written by Bobby Scott and Bob Russell. Originally recorded by Kelly Gordon in 1969, the song became a worldwide hit for the Hollies later that year and also a hit for Neil Diamond in 1970. It has been recorded by many artists in subsequent years. The Hollies' version was re-released in 1988 and again was a major hit in the UK.Scott and Russell were introduced to each other by Johnny Mercer, at a California nightclub. Although Russell was dying of lymphoma and the pair met only three times, they managed to collaborate on the song. Not sure how many brass quintet versions of this music is available, but here's my representation of it. Enjoy!

Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1461185 By The Dixie Cups. By Barbara Ann Hawkins, Joan Marie Johnson, and Rosa Lee Hawkins. Arranged by Will Corbin. Jazz,Pop. 24 pages. Will Corbin #1040044. Published by Will Corbin (A0.1461185). This song has roots in a Mardi Gras chant that ostensibly came from some unspecified Native American language. James Sugar Boy Crawford turned it into a song, and his band, Sugar Boy and his Cane Cutters (southern Louisiana had a lot of that) recorded it in 1953 as Jock-a-Mo, which may mean kiss my ass or a defiant response to that effect. It was recorded again, as kind of a whim, in 1964 by the girl trio The Dixie Cups, who made it a hit. It has since been endlessly covered by everyone from Cyndi Lauper to The Grateful Dead. This arrangement is essentially solo variations on the main melody backed by horn rhythms. If you want to make it go on endlessly, it's a simple three-chord tune (actually, mostly two chords) that lends itself to simple improv. It's arranged for two trumpets, horn, trombone and tuba.If you require alternative instrumentation, I'm happy to help. Contact me at wilcor@aol.com.

Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1465639 By Various. By Ben Bernie and Maceo Pinkard. Arranged by Will Corbin. Jazz,Pop. 24 pages. Will Corbin #1044252. Published by Will Corbin (A0.1465639). Ben Bernie and Maceo Pinkard wrote this soon-to-become jazz standard in 1925 and Bernie recorded it for the first time the same year with his Hotel Roosevelt Orchestra. There's some story about inspiration coming from a Georgia politician who sired a daughter, and the state legislature passed an act requiring him to name the girl Georgia (hence Georgia named her.) Right. The song is probably best known as the one that played whenever the Harlem Globetrotters took the court. If you need other instrumentation, please contact me at wilcor@aol.com.

Brass Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.740270 Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by Craig Garner. Christmas,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 85 pages. Dorm 40 Music #3246113. Published by Dorm 40 Music (A0.740270). 2017 Holiday Contest Entry Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker is universally popular and has become one of his most famous compositions. The ballet tells the story of a young girl who receives a nutcracker (in the form of a soldier) for Christmas. She falls asleep and dreams that all the Christmas presents come to life. Since the music of the Suite is so familiar, there is hardly any need to offer any additional description beyond the titles of each movement: March, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, Russian Dance (Trepak), Chinese Dance (Tea), Spanish Dance (Chocolate) and Waltz of the Flowers. This arrangement has been carefully edited and abridged to insure that the music is idiomatic for brass. Your quintet may perform just one movement, all 6, or any combination you wish. And, for the price, 6 movements is a real bargain!! The Chinese Dance has been scored for B-flat piccolo trumpet, but it may also be played on a muted trumpet. This arrangement comes with both B-flat and C trumpet parts, as well as an optional timpani/percussion part (suspended cymbal, tambourine, castanets and triangle). The timpani/percussion part may easily be played by one performer. Performance time: 10:00. Published by Dorm 40 Music, www.dorm40music.com.
