The tango show tune Hernando's Hideaway was written in 1954 by Jerry Ross and Richard Adler for the Broadway show The Pajama Game.   We've arranged it for brass quintet and drum set. Castanets or bongos can substitute for the complete drum set.   Our arrangement spreads lead responsibilities across the top four parts. Performance time is approximately 2:48. With the lyrics and accomanying goofy acting on stage and in the movie, this tune from 1954's The Pajama Game is just silly. It actually charted in the '50s by artists you've never heard of. Weirdly, it has been recorded in 15 different Finnish versions under the title Hernandon salaisuus. (The Finns possess an overabundance of vowels.) And it was the theme for the gangstger character Brick Top in the wonderfully weird 200 flick Snatch.
But it's a wonderful tango by Jerry Ross when you take away the words.
