Brass Quintet - Level 2 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1394240

Composed by Jule Styne and Sammy Cahn. Arranged by Peet du Toit. Film/TV,Jazz. 8 pages. Peet du Toit #977715. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.1394240).

Time After Time is a jazz standard about nostalgia with lyrics written by Sammy Cahn and music by Jule Styne in 1946.

The first recording was on November 19, 1946 for Musicra by Sarah Vaughan with the Teddy Wilson Quartet: Wilson on piano, Charlie Ventura on tenor saxophone, Remo Palmieri on guitar, and Billy Taylor on double bass.

The song was written for Frank Sinatra in the 1947 film It Happened in Brooklyn. The pianist providing the music offstage was André Previn. Sinatra recorded it again in 1957 with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra.

Here is a short and easy cover of this beautiful piece, without neglecting its magnificent chord structures.

SKU: A0.1459444

By Frank Sinatra. By Jule Styne and Sammy Cahn. Arranged by Will Corbin. Christmas,Pop. 12 pages. Will Corbin #1038394. Published by Will Corbin (A0.1459444).

Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne wrote this for Frank Sinatra in 1954. It first appeared on the single B side of Sinatra's recording of White Christmas. It has since been beaten senseless by just about every conceivable recording artist, from Doris Day to John Travolta. (Really!) In rendering it for brass quintet, I've attempted to cause no further damage.
If you would like alternative instrumentation, I'm happy to accommodate. Contact me at wilcor@aol.com.

SKU: A0.1141380

By Frank Sinatra. By Jule Styne and Sammy Cahn. Arranged by Paul Nagle. Christmas,Film/TV,Holiday,Pop. 20 pages. Paul Nagle #741704. Published by Paul Nagle (A0.1141380).

This Brass Quintet is a novel treatment of the Christmas standard. It consists of the well known melody passed around by the trombone and horn in the key of Eb concert, followed by a chorus of a new countermelody traded back and forth by the trumpets in F All this is followed in the third chorus by a modulation to G major and having both melodies played together for the final climax. A quick tempo is required to bring out the snappy feeling of this arrangement!
