By The Village People. By Henri Belolo, Jacques Morali, and Victor Willis. Arranged by Alessandro Macrì. Film/TV,Funk,Multicultural,Pop,World. 22 pages. Music Macri Editions #959236. Published by Music Macri Editions (A0.1374684).

By Alessandro Macrì. By G. Mameli and M. Novaro. Arranged by Alessandro Macrì. Film/TV,Historic,March,Patriotic. 11 pages. Music Macri Editions #973346. Published by Music Macri Editions (A0.1389750).

Composed by Traditional French Melodies. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Christmas,Classical,Instructional,Multicultural,Standards,World. 22 pages. Regis Bookshar #6095939. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813064).

Brass Quintet - Intermediate - Digital Download. This selection, Burgundian Air/March of the Three Kings, has been arranged for a Brass Quintet, consisting of 2 Trumpets, 1 French Horn, 1 Trombone and 1 Tuba, by Regis Bookshar. It incorporates two Traditional French melodies into one exciting arrangement, which, I'm certain, will entertain both performers and audiences alike. It is suitable for high school and college students and is perfect for Christmas concerts and church services but could be performed anytime and anywhere. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (22 pages). It begins with a Burgundian Air, played by a solo French Horn. The melody is then played by the two Trumpets in harmony before the rest of the ensemble joins in. This is followed by the March of the Three Kings, a Provencal melody (La Marche Des Rois Mages) which dates from the 13th century and recalls the Three Kings of the Christmas story. The peasants probably sang and danced to this tune, even perhaps honoring their own folk heroes, the French dukes, dressed in their shining armor and carrying brilliant banners, as they marched off to the Crusades. George Bizet utilized this tune as a farandole, or stately dance, in his incidental music for Alphonse Daudet's play L'Arlesienne (The Girl from Arles). There is a fugal section in which each instrument enters, playing an embellished version of the tune before concluding the arrangement. Also available are other settings of these two Traditional French melodies for a variety of instrumental ensembles as well as numerous other arrangements in a variety of styles. Please feel free to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar. You may find something else which might interest you as well. I'm certain that students will enjoy playing this arrangement.

Composed by F-J. Gossec (1734-1829). Arranged by RUSSELL T. KING. Chamber,Classical,Contest,Festival. 18 pages. EMK Music #1006123. Published by EMK Music (A0.1425304).

Scored for 2 Trumpets (Bb Cornet/Flugel Horn), French Horn, Trombone and Tuba. There are alternative parts for Eb and Bb Horn, Bb Trombone in Treble and Bass Clefs and Eb and Bb Basses also in Treble and Bass Clef. Please note: This title is published for Brass Quartet and Brass Quintet. The parts are not interchangeable and can be identified at the bottom of each page.

This piece is excellent for practising ensemble skills as well as for filling that small gap in your program with something light and entertaining. You can use as much rubato as you like.

François-Joseph Gossec (1734 – 1829) was a French composer of operas, string quartets, symphonies, and choral works. His Gavotte, from his opera Rosine, ou L'épouse abandonnée (1786), remains familiar in popular culture because Carl Stalling and Charles M. Jones used arrangements of it in several Warner Brothers cartoons. Arguably the most notable of these is Porky Pig's dance to an uncredited version of Gossec's Gavotte in Jones’ Porky's Cafe (1942). By Louis Armstrong & His Orchestra. By L. Wolfe Gilbert, Marion Sunshine, and Moises Simons. Arranged by Will Corbin. Latin. 20 pages. Will Corbin #1041438. Published by Will Corbin (A0.1462691).

The Peanut Vendor (El Manisero) was written by Cuban composer Moises Simons in the late 1920s. The song sold a more than a million copies of sheet music and 78rpm records, and sparked rumbamania in the U.S. The National Recording Preservation Board recognizes it as the first American recording of an authentic Latin dance style. It has been covered in recordings something like 160 times, by Stan Kenton, Django Reinhart, Louis Armstrong, Dean Martin and many others.
This fairly simple arrangement is for two trumpets, horn, trombone and tuba. The tuba lays down a beat while the higher voices swap pieces of the melody. It ain't fancy, but it plays well.
If you want different instrumentation, I'm happy to accommodate. Contact me at wilcor@aol.com.

Composed by Clarence M. Jones. Arranged by Bill Wilson. Jazz. Score and parts. 15 pages. Alexander Wilson #39037. Published by Alexander Wilson (A0.774842).

A response to Lewis F. Muir and L. Wolfe Gilbert's Waiting for the Robert E. Lee, Clarence Jones and Marvin Lee's Casey Jones Went Down on the Robert E. Lee borrows heavily from its predecessor in terms of music, but still contains enough original ideas to stand on its own. It speaks of the instant fame of the original that both pieces were published in 1912. Arranged for brass quintet (two Bb trumpets, French horn, trombone, and tuba). Includes world parts (horn in Eb, trombone in Bb TC, tuba in Eb TC, and tuba in Bb TC). Performance time is approximately 2:00.
