This is a reduction for brass quintet, with the intention of giving better practicity to groups that intend to play at weddings, and not only that, it can be used in several occasions, both by professionals and beginners, because it was adapted to be easy to perform. The Wedding March by Felix Mendelssohn was composed in 1842 to set the music for the play A Midsummer Night's Dream (Musik zu Ein Sommernachtstraum). It is a piece of music played during wedding ceremonies, at the moment of the bride's entrance, usually preceded by notes of Triumphal Clarins that emphasize the importance of this moment. Originally the piece is instrumental, having been performed at weddings in the version.

Part of my composer collections, this well-known piece by Mendelssohn is great for a concert at any time of year. It is set as a solo for Part 1 (Hear My Prayer) followed by a solo for Horn (O, For the Wings). While Hear My Prayer is not as well known as O, For the Wings, it is still a beautiful piece and deserves wider recognition. Both are equally suitable as wedding music.

Part of my ongoing series of music by famous composers for brass, Barcarolle Veneziana is an unusal piece in many ways. Mostly, we tend to think of a barcarolle as a gentle compound time boat ride. This work by Mendelssohn, however, is more like a competition between gondoliers to see who can get through the Gran Canale the fastest!

A difficult and challenging piece for brass because of the flow needed to keep the music light and delicate. This is a great show-off piece as all the players need to keep focussed on tightly contolling the rhythmic pulse.
