God Rest Ye Bourrée, Gentlemen, is a arrangement of the Christmas carol God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen set in a swing style for brass quintet. The first section of this traditional 18th century English carol's accompaniment is based on the Bourrée from J.S.Bach's Suite in E minor as reimagined by Jethro Tull on their 1969 album Stand Up, and the final verse is in a Big Band swing style.  If you're looking for something completely different (to quote Monty Python) to augment your holiday repertoire - this is it!

Sousa wrote this in 1893 as part of an operetta on commission. But he and the customer couldn't agree on a price -- Sousa wanted $1,500, and the customer wouldn't go higher than $1,000 -- so Sousa walked. A march from the operetta became The Liberty Bell. It's probably best known now as the theme song from Monty Python's Flying Circus, pressed on the British comedy group by its only American member for reasons that are too arcane to go into or even understand.
It's arranged for two trumpets, horn, baritone TC and tuba; subsitute instrumentation can be arranged.
