 REVELATION FOR BRASS QUINTET is a transcription of a solo trumpet piece written Jack Stone a former performer in the famous UNT One O'clock lab band.  It is a high energy piece with a with a big ending. It is written for good performers with advanced technique. Playable by top flight high school level to professionals. Ranges are not extreme and the one High C for Trumpet It has an ossia available. Heber was a British clergyman, poet, and hymnist of the early 19th Century. Cutler was a 19th Centruy organist and hymnist from Boston, Massachusetts. This work was based on texts from Psalm 24:8, the synoptic Gospels, and Revelation. Section A starts off the hymn. A modulation to a new key at the end of B section with the aid of a French augmented sixth chord. Section C includes a descant by ytours truly.

This is a terrific original brass quintet suitable for high school level and above as well as church.  The first trumpet and tuba have a joyous dialogue, and everyone has an interesting and integral function.  The rhythm patterns are clever and often matched with others for clarity and unity.  The harmonies are modern, but not overly dissonant.  You and your group will love this one. .
