The Beatles performed And I Love Her just once outside EMI Studios; on 14 July 1964 they played it for an edition of the BBC's Top Gear radio show, which was broadcast two days later.

And I Love Her has been covered by a variety of artists, including Esther Phillips, Kurt Cobain and Cliff Richard.

This composition for standard brass quintet is based on a medieval Christmas hymn which dates from the late 14th Century and probably had its origins in Germany. Personent Hodie was first published in the Finnish song book Piae Cantiones in 1582. With the lyrics and accomanying goofy acting on stage and in the movie, this tune from 1954's The Pajama Game is just silly. It actually charted in the '50s by artists you've never heard of. Weirdly, it has been recorded in 15 different Finnish versions under the title Hernandon salaisuus. (The Finns possess an overabundance of vowels.) And it was the theme for the gangstger character Brick Top in the wonderfully weird 200 flick Snatch.
But it's a wonderful tango by Jerry Ross when you take away the words.

I've played out of the Real Book for years for fun and study. When I began arranging for brass quintet more than ten years ago, I was surprised to find this classic tune from Pal Joey didn't have an arrangement! I'm glad I finally get to share it with you. 

There are changes in the trombone solo, but there's also one written out. It's a bit high, so feel free to take things down an octave, write your own, or play the changes as you see fit!
