Made memorable by The Mamas & The Papas, Dream A Little Dream of Me is presented here in Brass Quintet form.  A moderate level of difficulty, this one-pager is about two and a half minutes long.  Trumpet 1 plays a little countermelody (with cup mute) in the opening verse, but for the most part gets a break from playing, so this is a good piece to program after Trumpet 1 has played a taxing piece.  A sure-fire crowd pleaser.

John and Michelle Phillips wrote this song during a chill winter in New York in 1963. It was first recorded by Barry McGuire; not until 1965 did the Phillipses record it in the version by The Mamas and The Papas that is the familiar hit. It's now listed as No. 89 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest songs of all time. (No. 1, from that same year, is Bob Dylan's Like A Rolling Stone. Of course.)
