Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813064 Composed by Traditional French Melodies. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Christmas,Classical,Instructional,Multicultural,Standards,World. 22 pages. Regis Bookshar #6095939. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813064). Brass Quintet - Intermediate - Digital Download. This selection, Burgundian Air/March of the Three Kings, has been arranged for a Brass Quintet, consisting of 2 Trumpets, 1 French Horn, 1 Trombone and 1 Tuba, by Regis Bookshar. It incorporates two Traditional French melodies into one exciting arrangement, which, I'm certain, will entertain both performers and audiences alike. It is suitable for high school and college students and is perfect for Christmas concerts and church services but could be performed anytime and anywhere. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (22 pages). It begins with a Burgundian Air, played by a solo French Horn. The melody is then played by the two Trumpets in harmony before the rest of the ensemble joins in. This is followed by the March of the Three Kings, a Provencal melody (La Marche Des Rois Mages) which dates from the 13th century and recalls the Three Kings of the Christmas story. The peasants probably sang and danced to this tune, even perhaps honoring their own folk heroes, the French dukes, dressed in their shining armor and carrying brilliant banners, as they marched off to the Crusades. George Bizet utilized this tune as a farandole, or stately dance, in his incidental music for Alphonse Daudet's play L'Arlesienne (The Girl from Arles). There is a fugal section in which each instrument enters, playing an embellished version of the tune before concluding the arrangement. Also available are other settings of these two Traditional French melodies for a variety of instrumental ensembles as well as numerous other arrangements in a variety of styles. Please feel free to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar. You may find something else which might interest you as well. I'm certain that students will enjoy playing this arrangement.

Brass Quintet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1489498 Composed by Dr. Daniel N. Thrower. 21st Century,Chamber,Historic,Instructional,Multicultural,World. 17 pages. Https://gildedmusicpress.com/ #1066363. Published by https://gildedmusicpress.com/ (A0.1489498). Rounding out the “American Trails” with the fifth composition in the collection, “Trail of Tears” is in reference to the heart-wrenching dark history of over 60,000 American Indians being expelled from their lands.  During the period between 1830 and 1850, natives from five tribes were forcibly displaced from their homelands in what later became known as the American Deep South.  These “Five Civilized Tribes” included the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Muscogee, and Seminole nations.  Under the leadership of President Andrew Jackson, Congress passed the “Indian Removal Act” in 1830 which revoked all land ownership from all Native Americans in the Southeast.  Although Jackson was not the originator of the movement to remove the Indians, it was his top legislative priority upon taking office.  In his mind, they were a primary obstacle for the fulfillment of the Manifest Destiny and American national success.  There were many opponents to the violent legislation, such as David Crockett of Tennessee and Catherine Beecher. The most brutal year of the Trail of Tears occurred in 1838 among the Cherokee who had resisted the Treaty of New Echota of 1836 through petitions and pleas to the US government.  Despite their efforts, the expulsive treaty was ratified and the resistant Cherokee were compelled by militia to vacate all lands east of the Mississippi River.  The heaviest death tolls occurred in the summer and winter months of 1838 after the deadline to depart had passed in May.  Disease, exposure, starvation, and harassment by frontiersman compounded the physical exertion of the “death marches” that killed many. This composition extensively borrows the four-note motif from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5.  That symphony was composed in the early 1800s in Europe at the same time as the growth of the anti-Indian sentiment across the American frontier.  Rather than primary thematic material, “Trail of Tears” uses the motif as a morose, plodding accompanimental pattern that adds depth of sorrow to the musical homage.

In the past, these compositions have often been performed by a soloist playing on a Piccolo Trumpet, but these new arrangements are Bb Trumpet friendly as one player stated after reading through them, making them much easier for most high school students. This selection, Heroic Music - A Suite of Twelve Marches (Complete), contains all twelve movements. They are as follows: No.   1. La Majeste (associated with Dignity); No.   2. La Grace (associated with Grace); No.   3. La Vaillance (associated with Bravery); No.   4. Brass Quintet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1243611 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Ander. Classical,Folk,March,Opera,Romantic Period. 11 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #838578. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1243611). This arrangement adapted for brass quintet was written keeping the characteristics of the original work, in order to be performed by young music students who want to enter the symphonic music. Besides, it can also be used by professional musicians for recitals, repertoire, academic presentations and didactic material. The transcription remains faithful to the structure, with only one change in tone, so that it is comfortable for all the instruments in the formation, as well as being used as an activity in ensemble practice among musicians of different traditions.Beethoven's Turkish March (Op. 113) is the 4th movement of the operatic work: The Ruins of Athens, a set of incidental pieces written in 1812 by Ludwig van Beethoven, where the melody was originally written in 1809 as Theme with Six Variations for Piano, Op. 76. The work was written to accompany the play of the same name by August von Kotzebue, for the dedication of a new theater in Pest. Perhaps the best known part of the composition is the Marcia alla turca, In Latin America, this movement became known in Jean-Jacques Perrey's version (who titled it The Elephant never Forgets) since it was used as the opening theme of the successful Mexican TV comedy El Chavo del Ocho. The opening and the turkish march are often performed separately, and the other pieces in this set are not often heard.

Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1158199 Composed by Dr. Daniel N. Thrower. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical,March,Patriotic. 32 pages. Https://gildedmusicpress.com/ #758476. Published by https://gildedmusicpress.com/ (A0.1158199). There is nothing more quintessentially military than the grand sound of marches at special military events. Hundreds of marches have served their purposes through the many decades of military tradition in the United States of America. This 3.5-minute march was composed for the occasion of the change of command of the 55th Wing—“The Fightin’ 55thâ€â€”under Air Combat Command, located at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. The ceremony took place on June 14, 2019, which was also Flag Day. The new march served as a grateful tribute to the outgoing Commander, Colonel Michael H. Manion, and a welcoming gesture to the new Commander, Colonel Gavin P. Marks. Printed copies of the score were presented to the Commanders before the ceremony, and the march was premiered as the final pre-ceremony musical selection. The opening motifs are strongly reminiscent of the introductory measures of the “Air Force Song†most commonly played by Air Force brass quintets. Keeping in tradition with the form of most marches, the “Trio†section presents new material in a new key (down a fifth), with a contrastingly quiet dynamic. The opening motif of the Trio strain is a mutation, or a paraphrase, of “Anchors Aweighâ€, emphasizing the joint-force nature of the 55th Wing. The melody is repeated with a louder dynamic and a countermelody in the horn, and then is repeated once more with increased excitement in the accompaniment, variety of dynamics, and even a temporary key shift. Straying from the form most used by the “March Kingâ€, John Philip Sousa, Dr. Thrower omitted a fourth or final strain, and instead he modulated the key back to the original B-flat major and brought back the melodic content from the first strain. This form predates Sousa, and was more commonly used in Europe and early America. It smacks of “sonata formâ€, and even the modern formal designation of “recapitulating march†alludes to sonata form. The final recapitulating strain repeats with an obbligato soaring above it in the first trumpet part, now on piccolo trumpet. The march ends with a short coda that brings back the opening motivic allusion to the Air Force Song. Due to the selected formal structure, this march, “The Fightin’ 55thâ€, is much more unified than most typical marches. The very nature of military marches (including America’s beloved “Stars and Stripes Foreverâ€) displays four or even five completely unrelated melodies, or strains, throughout. The incorporation of thematic structure similar to that found in sonata form indeed makes “The Fightin’ 55th†an appropriate and even artistic concert march.

Brass Ensemble Trombone,Trumpet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1083711 Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Classical,Contest,Festival,Instructional,Multicultural,Romantic Period,World. Score and parts. 15 pages. Regis Bookshar #687920. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1083711). Coronation March, TH 50, CW 47 by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Brass Quintet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of Peter Tchaikovsky's Coronation March, sometimes called Festival March or Festival Coronation March, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and other festive occasions. This arrangement keeps all of the intensity and excitement of the original composition and is suitable for high school and college students. Professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (15 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available to the public for the first time. The Coronation March was ordered by the city of Moscow for the coronation of Tsar Alexander III in 1883. It was written during March of 1883 and was performed for the first time on June 4, 1883 in Sokolniky Park in Moscow, conducted by Sergei Taneyev. The music then included excerpts of the anthem, God Save the Tsar. The American premiere was on May 5, 1891, for the opening concert of Carnegie Hall in New York City, conducted by Tchaikovsky himself. During the Soviet Era, Russian performances and recordings of the music were revised to omit the excerpts from the Czarist national anthem, replacing it with thematic material used earlier in the march, due to an official Soviet ban on the anthem. Starting with Dmitri Medvedev's inauguration in 2008, an abbreviated version of this piece is played during the Russian presidential inauguration accompanying the entrance of the incoming president, and ends well before the playing in this piece of the Tsarist anthem God Save the Tsar. Unlike Tchaikovsky's other major compositions, the Coronation March does not have an opus number. It has been given alternative catalogue designations TH 50 and CW 47. Tchaikovsky's Coronation March was originally scored for a full orchestra and written in the key of D Major. Regis Bookshar has now created an abbreviated version, written in Db Major, and has arranged it for a Brass Quintet, consisting of 3 Bb Trumpets and 2 Trombones. In addition to this arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Coronation March for a Brass Quintet, other arrangements of this festive composition for various instrumental ensembles are also available. Please feel free to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as there are many more arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you as well, and please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Coronation March will continue to entertain both audiences and performers alike for years to come.

Adopted in 1922, the anthem's words are by John Grandell and the music was composed by Johan Fridolf Hagfors. The song was first performed during the song festival in Mariehamn 1922. In Ã…land the song is mostly sung on Midsummer's Eve and on the National day of Ã…land in June 9th. The song originally had four verses, but the third verse is omitted for a long time when the song is sung and often when it appears in print.Johan Fridolf Hagfors (11 March 1857–18 August 1931) was a Swedish newspaper publisher, music critic and composer, most known for having composed the two songs ModersmÃ¥lets sÃ¥ng (The mother tongue's song) and Ã…länningens sÃ¥ng (Song of the Ã…lender).Born in Orimattila, he got a Cand.phil degree in 1881. He also worked as a teacher in Ã…bo.He composed several songs for male quartets. ModersmÃ¥lets sÃ¥ng was first performed in 1989 and is today considered an unofficial hymn for the Swedish-speaking population of Finland. Ã…länningens sÃ¥ng, for which he composed the melody, was first performed during the song festival in Mariehamn in 1922 and is today the regional hymn for the Ã…land islands. In 1912 he became a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music.Due to stiff competition, Turun Lehti ceased publication in 1919. Chamber,Historic,March,Patriotic,Wedding. 26 pages. Matthew Nunes Music #987952. Published by Matthew Nunes Music (A0.1404920). World War I caused many anti-German sentiments, to the point that Wagner and Mendelssohn’s traditional wedding music were replaced. Sousa was asked to write a replacement, but tradition prevailed over this effort. Some truly fine moments throughout. This Brass Quintet arrangement was made using “The President’s Own†United States Marine Band’s The Complete Marches of John Philip Sousa score as found at https://www.marineband.marines.mil/Audio-Resources/The-Complete-Marches-of-John-Philip-Sousa/. Wedding March was composed in 1918, and the referenced edition was made Public Domain in 2019. The piece is catalogued as Volume 5, No. 89.Section titles (such as “First Strain†and “Trioâ€) follow the measure numbers provided by that edition. Each instrument follows its full-band part as often as possible, the only exception being Trombone covering the Euphonium/Baritone part. Because of this, Euphonium/Baritone would make a suitable substitute.

Published by https://gildedmusicpress.com/ (A0.1489486). This collection of short compositions for brass quintet was conceived specifically to supplement a dearth of appropriate and artistic original compositions for the young aspiring brass quintet.  These pieces are most fitting for a good high school quintet or a beginning college ensemble that wants a conquerable challenge.  With a variety of keys, styles, and tempos, they lend themselves well for deep work on the core ensemble skills of rhythmic accuracy, intonation, and dynamic balance.  These brief works are also quite enjoyable for the professional quintet to perform for ever-popular school shows, or simply to read as a warmup with the focus of improving ensemble skills.  Performance time for all five pieces is approximately five minutes.“Blackhawk” (duration 0:45) was originally composed in D-sharp minor as a melody to be used in Comprehensive Trumpet Skills, Book 9: Sightreading and Transposition (p. 39).  The quintet version is in concert D minor for more manageable execution.  This brisk four-four work is perhaps the most difficult in the collection, with demands of multiple tonguing for all the instruments as well as fairly advanced intervallic jumps.  “Lamb of God” (duration 1:00) is one of many hymn tunes originally composed by Dr. Thrower for use in Comprehensive Trumpet Skills, Book 7: Ensemble Skills (p. 54), intended to be used to tune unisons and octaves.  As a tuning study it was published in the key of F major for B-flat trumpet, or concert E-flat major.  The quintet version retained the original key of concert E-flat.  The reverently subdued four-four tempo makes this the easiest piece in the collection, technically, though the three core ensemble skills listed in the introductory paragraph (rhythm, intonation, and balance) must still be extensively addressed.  The horn part is perhaps the most demanding in “Lamb of God,” with arpeggiated discant lines toward the end.“Summer Solstice” (duration 1:10) was started on June 21, 2023, which was the summer solstice.  It is a bright, cheerful piece in concert F major with a lot of interest in all the parts.  One source of the title’s inspiration came from my family’s new situation living in Tokyo, Japan, where the dawn sky brightens around 4:00 AM on the longest days of the year, which obviously coincide with the summer solstice.  The 70-second piece was completed four days after conception while the long days started at their earliest.“Triumph: Children’s March” (duration 1:00) was the catalyst for this collection.  It started as a cute little brass quintet piece in the key of concert B-flat major, to be performed for children, such as for school concerts.  The cut-time tempo is very brisk for a march, but animated little legs (or a more manageable audience activity of clapping hands) can easily handle the task.  Although the first trumpet part ends up on a high C, there is an alternate note for a more comfortable ending.“Waltzing Puma” (duration 0:30) is an evocative title for an evocative piece.  Like “Blackhawk,” this melody was composed as a melody for Comprehensive Trumpet Skills, Book 9: Sightreading and Transposition (p. 36).  The melodies in that series took on titles of military aircraft, and this one was the helicopter “Puma.”  Since this tune is in a fast three-four, it became the “Waltzing Puma.”  The quintet version retains the original key of concert F minor.

Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1257721 Composed by Jakob Hintze. Arranged by Todd Marchand. Christian,Easter,Sacred. 24 pages. Con Spirito Music #850950. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1257721). An ideal hymn selection for Easter Sunday, Eastertide, or at any celebration of the eucharist, At the Lamb's High Feast We Sing is one of many hymns translated from Latin by Robert Campbell (1814-1868), a Scottish advocate (lawyer) and Roman Catholic layperson. First published in 1850, At the Lamb's High Feast We Sing was one of four of Campbell's hymn texts to be included in Hymns Ancient & Modern (1861), the first standardized and popular hymnal of the Anglican Church. The tune accompanying the text, known as SALZBURG, is attributed to the German composer Jakob Hintze (1622-1702). Its harmonization has long been attributed to J.S. Bach and numbered among his works as BWV 262. However, the New Edition of the Complete Works of Bach, published by Barenreiter, no longer recognizes this, and the harmonization matches that of Johann Pachelbel's Alle Menschen müssen sterben — Choral mit 8 Partiten (Chorale with 8 Variations) of 1683.Regardless of the authorship of text or tune, At the Lamb's High Feast We Sing is a richly theological, grand hymn that references God's saving works in both the Old Testament and the New, culminating in Christ's victorious resurrection and his triumph over sin and death, and celebrates his feeding of the faithful gathered for the eucharistic feast with his Body and Blood. This arrangement for organ and brass quintet begins with alternating fanfares for organ and brass, followed by:Verse 1: organ accompanimentVerse 2: brass accompanimentVerse 3: organ accompaniment with solo trumpet punctuationsInterludeVerse 4: organ and brass accompaniment in alternate harmonizationCoda recapitulating the introductory fanfares Includes full score, parts for organ, Bb tpt. 1, Bb tpt. 2, F horn, tbn, tuba, and reproducible bulletin insert for voices ©Copyright 2023 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). This marvelous arrangement of the March from Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky's extremely popular, The Nutcracker Suite, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts and recitals but would be most appropriate during the Holiday season. This selection has been arranged to keep all of the intensity and excitement of the original composition and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (24 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. The Nutcracker is an 1892 two-act ballet with a score by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. It has enjoyed enormous popularity since the late 1960's and is performed by countless ballet companies, primarily during the Christmas season, especially in North America. Tchaikovsky's score has become one of his most famous compositions. Some critics have called it astonishingly rich in detailed inspiration and from beginning to end, beautiful, melodious, original and characteristic. The ballet's first complete performance outside Russia took place in England in 1934. The first complete United States performance was on December 24, 1944, by the San Francisco Ballet. It was such an enormous success that the San Francisco Ballet has presented The Nutcracker every Christmas Eve and throughout the winter season, debuting new productions in 1944, 1954, 1967 and 2004. In Salt Lake City, it has been performed every year since 1963. The New York City Ballet gave its first annual performance in 1954. In addition to annual live stagings of the work, many productions have also been televised or released on home video. The Nutcracker continues to be one of Tchaikovsky's most popular compositions and contains some of his most memorable works. Tchaikovsky made a selection of eight of the numbers from the ballet before the ballet's December 1892 premiere, forming The Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a, and is intended for concert performance. The suite was first performed, under the composer's direction, on March 19, 1892. The suite became instantly popular with almost every number encored at its premiere.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could also have the opportunity to play some of these wonderful compositions, originally scored for a full orchestra, and has arranged two of the selections, the popular March and the Russian Dance for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. So, in addition to this version of the March for a Brass Quintet, consisting of 3 Trumpets and 2 Trombones, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection for various Quintets and Octets and are readily available. If you should decide to purchase this arrangement of the March, I would highly encourage you to also consider purchasing the arrangement of the Russian Dance as well. Scheduling the March followed by the Russian Dance would be a very satisfying addition to any concert or recital. Please take the time to look for other versions of these compositions. You may find something else that might also suit your needs.I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as there are numerous selections in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of the March from Tchaikovsky's marvelous holiday favorite, The Nutcracker Suite, will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.
