Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1226165 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Alessandro Macrì. Broadway,Celtic,Classical,Film/TV,Irish,Musical/Show,Traditional. 11 pages. Music Macri Editions #822193. Published by Music Macri Editions (A0.1226165). Drunken Sailor (letteralmente: Marinaio ubriaco) è un canto marinaresco, conosciuto anche come What Shall We Do with a/the Drunken Sailor? What shall we do with a drunken sailor, early in the morning?

Brass Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.964574 Arranged by Betsy Bright. Children,Concert,Traditional. Score and parts. 12 pages. Bright Music Company #6247243. Published by Bright Music Company (A0.964574). This fun brass quintet arrangement includes two traditional sailing tunes: Sailing, Sailing and Sailor’s Hornpipe. This works really well as an overture to an around the world recital program, and it also fits onto any kids’ show. This is the overture to our hugely popular Sailing the High C’s show, but it’s an awesome stand alone piece as well. Since it’s only about a minute and a half long, it’s a great program opener or 2nd half opener. We also have this as a brass trio arrangement, and we will likely have it available for brass quartet soon as well.Duration: about 1.5 minutes

Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1270625 Composed by Blue Apollo Music. 20th Century,21st Century,Chamber,Classical,New Age. 28 pages. George Henry Williams III #862998. Published by George Henry Williams III (A0.1270625). The song begins with a steady rhythm, mimicking the waves of the ocean. The melody flows with the waves, mimicking the sway of the ship. The Brass Quintet creates a powerful and dramatic sound that matches the intensity of the situation. The climax of the song is marked by a triumphant horn and trumpet, signifying the ship's eventual victory over the current. Overall, the instrumental piece is a beautiful and emotional tribute to the perseverance of sailors facing difficult challenges on the open sea.

Brass Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.767723 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Jerry Lanning. Folk. Score and parts. 28 pages. Jerry Lanning #3047875. Published by Jerry Lanning (A0.767723). The first trumpet in my brass quintet asked for a short feature, and this is it. It’s one of the most difficult tunes to arrange because it’s traditionally harmonised by only two chords (the tonic and the major triad on the flattened leading note). Somehow if you start to reharmonise it, it loses its essential character. So I’ve constructed a largely unrelated intro and coda and an episode in the middle to give variety. The first trumpet part is showy but not too difficult for a competent player, although a big breath is needed at the end. Horn in Eb, Trombone in Bb, Bass in Eb and Bass in Bb parts are provided as alternatives for brass band players.

Brass Quintet Euphonium,Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1313891 Composed by John Philip Sousa. Arranged by Matthew Nunes. Chamber,Historic,March,Patriotic. 30 pages. Matthew Nunes Music #902614. Published by Matthew Nunes Music (A0.1313891). Using recycled material as well as Sailor’s Hornpipe, this march was premiered June 25th, 1903 in London’s Albert Hall by a massive group with the royal family in attendance. It features a boatswain’s whistle (or bosun’s whistle or pipe), which I’ve notated in approximate pitches in the Trumpet 1 part. I recommend purchasing an authentic one, as the unique sound is difficult to fake, and the spirit of this march is a distinct naval flavor. This Brass Quintet arrangement was made using “The President’s Own†United States Marine Band’s The Complete Marches of John Philip Sousa score as found at https://www.marineband.marines.mil/Audio-Resources/The-Complete-Marches-of-John-Philip-Sousa/. Jack Tar was composed in 1903, and the referenced edition was made Public Domain in 2018. The piece is catalogued as Volume 4, No. 62.

Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1458413 Composed by Spencer Williams. Arranged by Will Corbin. Blues,Historic,Jazz. 22 pages. Will Corbin #1037395. Published by Will Corbin (A0.1458413). Basin Street sits on the edge of the French Quarter of New Orleans. A few years before this song was written, it served as the border of a red-light district known as Storyville. A city councilman named Sidney Story came up with the idea of creating a district to which prostitution would be limited, where it could be watched and regulated. So The District was created in 1897; it soon became known as Storyville, much to the chagrin of Councilman Story. During its 20-year official life, a visitor could buy a blue book for two bits that listed prostitutes alphabetically and by race and address. It was abolished in 1917 during World War I because it violated a rule that no house of prostitution could be within 5 miles of a military base. The Navy wanted its sailors pure of heart. It's also a place where jazz grew up. The bordellos hired musicians to entertain customers, who weren't particularly interested in the music. So the mostly black performers were free to experiment, to try new syncopated rhythms, to blend the sounds of African drums and plantation gospel to come up with what would become known as Dixieland music. Storyville (it would later mostly be razed for public housing, and still later begin to gentrify as property values rose) was where Spencer Williams wrote the song in 1928; Louis Armstrong, who spent some of his childhood nearby, first recorded it in 1928. It has since been recorded by dozens of other artists. If you need alternative instrumentation, I'm happy to accommodate. Contact me at wilcor@aol.com.
