Derek Hasted writes This charming (and instantly recognizable) song by Bette Midler makes a lovely solo on guitar.

My arrangement uses one or two arranging tricks to make the piece accessible to a less-experienced player. By subtle changes to one or two notes, we can remove the occasional complexities that make important sections of a simple transcription sound clumsy or less clean.

My arrangement has conventional notation (free of page turns) plus a version with score and tab together - it’s set in the same key as the original, and the three verses are arranged differently, to match the way the original builds and then fades.

Virtually all the piece is in first position, where the long string lengths help to add sustain to a slow and reflective song.
