Visit my website (below) to easily find the other version.This fantastic piece was written as an integral part of the film 'While I Live', and such is the power and emotion in the music, it has achieved a recognition that has far outlasted the film.My arrangement for two guitars captures all of the original, fiendishly difficult, piano composition, but uses the sweet tone of the guitar to add quality, rather than quantity, to the notes, creating a soundscape that works effectively and makes a wonderful concert piece lasting almost 4 minutes.The centre section has a simpler accompaniment than the original to avoid an overly fussy and unsatisfactory sound. Elsewhere the accompaniment is less rhythmically busy than the original, yet the chords are retained.There are two arrangements in this one edition...Version 1 allocates the music to the players as if they were the left and right hands of the piano piece - ideal for a duo in which one player is technically stronger than the other (for example a student/teacher duet).Version 2 swaps the roles around at the phrase boundaries and suits a well-matched duo.The choice of which you play is yours...The arpeggios are fingered because they generally only work well in one position. The melody, by contrast, is unfingered; it is chromatic and so there is no place on the neck where all the notes are accessible. Peters. The Album Leaves were composed over the span of almost fifteen years. As such, they present a fascinating cross-section of Grieg's pianistic and compositional development. They are arranged in chronological order as follows: Allegro con moto (1864), Allegretto espressivo (1874), Vivace (1876), and Andantino serioso (1878).Having realized some years ago that due to Grieg’s way of writing for the piano, that they would fit wonderfully on two guitars, I began with this set, and then moved onto more of his works, finally transcribing his complete set of 10 books of Lyric Pieces (66 pieces in all), all of which are available as separate publications at Les Productions D’Oz. The first is tune and accompaniment... Guitar 2 is an arpeggio accompaniment that uses simple and common shapes. Guitar 1 ventures up the neck, but it's such a slow piece that this is really straightforward. The second is call and response where the two parts swap over at the major phrase boundaries, so that each player has a chance to play the tune and to play the accompaniment...Just choose the version that works best for you!This would be great in a school concert, but also an adult ensemble would find it a crowd-pleaser that takes little effort to perform!I hope you enjoy this piece!

Solfeggietto (H 220, Wq. 117: 2) is a short solo keyboard piece in C minor composed in 1766 by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. The work is unusual for a keyboard piece in that the main theme and some other passages are fully monophonic, i.e. only one note is played at a time. The piece is commonly assigned to piano students and appears in many anthologies; pedagogically it fosters the playing of an even sixteenth note rhythm by alternating hands. Now in the 21st century, this piece comes alive once again. Arranged for 2 guitars(Drop D Tuning), each guitar is playing the same piece in 2 different keys simultaneously(E Minor and B Minor).
